Bloodwork: How to go about it.

Many say to get your bloodwork done. When should you get this done & what are you looking for? Also, what do you tell the doc?

Is is just done before, during & after a cycle?

My doctor knows I use gear. I admitted it to him a year ago. So whenever I see him, I ask him to give me a form for a blood test. In Canada its free :D

Getting your blood work done periodically is very important but you need to be careful what you tell your doc. If he knows about your AAS use and is cool with it, thats great. You just don't want him to say or do anything that could potentially fuck you up with your insurance company down the road.

Tell him, or make sure he says, the reason for the testosterone level checks is because you are having trouble getting an erection, not because of your illegal drug use. That could come back as a reason for them to drop you or deny you coverage in the future.

Also, its best to get your T levels checked before you start your first cycle so that you know your personal "normal" testosterone level. I dont know of anyone who actually had the insight to do that though!

Good luck, bro!

Little too late for that.....

So in general, your looking to make sure your producing testosterone at a normal level before you begin another cycle--am i correct? What else do you reccomend checking?
Thanks

Always check you liver functions and if your on a cycle your cholestrol will be high. The easy way to get blood work done is to tell your doctor you have had a large reduction in your sex drive ( not erection disfunction, but a lack of interest) Or say you have started to gain weight really fast and you lost all your energy. If you take t-3 be sure they test the thyroid. I am lucky, I guess, my doctor gets my liver/cholestrol ect. if I even complain of having the shits.

I just went in and complained about not having much of an appetite and low energy levels... and i hinted that maybe I could have low testosterone or somethin.. but that certainly wasnt the case.. I was at nearly 800 on the test.. anyways.. its not hard to goa bout getting work done

It's been so long since I had bloodwork done I cant remember everything they check for but I know a standard profile will check out your liver function, kidney creatinine levels, cholesterol, thyroid, and testosterone and estrodiol levels. A more extensive test will break it down into free and bound testosterone.

When I said it would be best to get blood work done before you start your first cycle it was so that you would know what "normal" levels are for you so when you come off your cycle and PCT, you can have your T checked again and see if your HPTA has fully recovered.

Bro, you can go to www.directlabs.com and get they're complete wellness profile, then add on testosterone testing to it. This way you dont have anything to explain to your Dr or insurance issues to worry about.

That's what I do - a metabolic panel only costs $20. You can add total testosterone for $30 more.

In some states (California is one but I think a couple others, too) state law prohibits blood tests unless they are requested by a physician. Most of the online testing sites obey state laws. I look at directlabs site but didn't see that disclaimer. Anyone know if they will do tests in those states without a physician's approval?

I'm in CA and when I use http://www.health-tests-direct.com/, they have an in-house doctor do the actual authorization by signing a form. Since I don't have to talk to anyone, it's just like I ordered it myself.

so what do you have to do, draw your own blood and send it in?

Free Test is still pretty expensive there...

True, but for ~ $120 I can get a metabolic profile, total test, and estradiol, which gives you a pretty good snapshot of where you HPTA-wise.

That is pretty pricey... $135 for Test & Free test... add to that CMP, CBC, Lipid Panel, TSH, Hepatic Panel, FSH and LH... and you're talking $$$$$$$

Yes, Direct Labs uses in house Dr's to sign your paperwork for here in the golden state. They have many labs to go to get the blood draw done, takes five minutes for blood and urine and the results are available on line and in the mail in less than a week.
