More than 20 years after the AIDS epidemic arrived in the United States, a significant proportion of black Americans embrace the theory that US government scientists created the disease to control or wipe out their communities, a study released this week has found.

That belief markedly hurt efforts to prevent the spread of the disease among blacks, the study's authors and activists said.

Science indicates that the origins of the disease far predate the scientific ability to create such a thing. Just a genetic variant of SIV simian immunodeficiency virus. Some theories suggest that the widespread innoculations of small pox eradication program helped speed along HIV.
Thats like arguing that prions from madcow were created to make creutzfeld jakob or fatal familial insomnia. Just scientific ignorance at its most hilarious.

I never heard of the theory on cancer...

But I have read somewhere that the Ebola virus was created by the Germans in the '60 and a few infected moneys were transported to Africa where it kind of got out of hand!!! :evil:

I think that whereever you heard that from was a little off. First case of ebola in '76 and named after a nearby river called ebola, so it didnt hang out from the 60s.
Most likely confused with another filovirus Marburg, similar but less lethal hemmorhagic fever. But thats the other way around, workers in Frankfurt germany and some other places all became infected after handling a shipment of green monkeys from africa. I believe that was '67 and THEN later the first reported outbreak was 1975 in South Africa, but not b/c of transport from germany. Some of the elements of that story are similar, sounds like someone heard the real story, got stoned and put it into a conspiracy theory for his buddies, LOL!

it is possible that the papers got the story wrong or someone turned it into a conspiracy theory
