My dad is teaching my lilttle girl French.

Most college's, now a days, REQUIRE you have a second language.

Learning something new is always good in my book!

Bilingual is okay. Not speaking English is not acceptable though. If you live here, you must at least be able to speak the language. (Exceptions made for visitors and people who have just moved here legally).

ppl from quebec slur their words together and talk too fast for me to pick up enough of what is being said. other than that, i have a decent understanding of french. i am better at reading it though.

i think it applies because we have national bilingualism as a *law*... relevant, despite being tangential imo.

I think we should just say "fuck the English language" and learn that clicking sound language they use down in Africa or wherever it originated. I want to be able to roll up to a McDonald's drive thru window and say "Neep Dok Wook <click> Eepin <click> Dok Nok <click> <click>" and get a damn Big Mac with no special sauce and some fries.

If you are new to this country or are just visiting, then you don't have to know the language. If you plan on staying and making this your home, you must learn it. If you're illegal, your ass shouldn't be here anyway so it's kind of a moot point.
