Biceps Tendinitis?

musclemom

I Told You So ...
EF VIP
Okay, back in October I woke up one morning, after having done nothing in particular, and I thought my neck had gone out, the muscles were all spasmed around my right triceps and shoulderblade and I could barely move my arm. I also had horrible pins and needles and numbness in my hand.

So I go to my trusty chiropractor and felt immediately improved but far from perfect after the visit. I figured, well, it's gonna take a couple of visits and I'll be golden (every so many years something will go wonky on me and it just takes 2 weeks to a month of NSAIDs and regular chiropractic and that straightens it out).

Well, it got better up to a point and then improvement just stopped. The pins and needles and numbness is gone but I still get aching in my forearm from the elbow down to nearly the wrist and the pain has moved from being diffusely in my triceps and shoulder/central back to more focused directly in the ball of my shoulder.

The main problem is a pain right in the front of my shoulder joint. The pain goes down a little into my biceps muscle. It can be triggered by virtually anything but holding my arm up to the front -- versus out to the side -- is particularly provocative. Benchpresses, flyes and hanging leg lifts are particularly painful, dumbbell laterals and seated shoulder presses are no problem. Sometimes the shoulder will flare to the point I start using my other hand/arm because doing anything with it hurts. Laying on it hurts at night, and even laying on the opposite shoulder causes it to hurt because of the way my arm goes across the front of my body.

I have my own reasons for not wanting to go to an orthopedist (the tests are gonna cost a fortune because my insurance sucks ass and I have a piercing I have to have professionally removed before I can get an MRI) but I'm on the edge. I've rested it for fully six weeks, no weights, and every time I start to see improvement and the pain is gone for a day or two it seems like for no good reason I'll get one of those crippling flares.

It's driving me crazy. It's affecting every aspect of my life and is one of the reasons I haven't been on the boards much, because I thought with all the typing for my job doing more here was irritating it. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it settles down and when it gets exacerbated and really, Advil doesn't seem to improve things now.

Is this biceps tendinitis or does it sound like something else?

Did you do an X-Ray or MRI. Please consult a specialist.
Getting the x-ray tomorrow. Scheduled to see a sports medicine doc next Monday (had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment). I know he can do ultrasounds in his office. Have a pet who has recently had major health issues, too (as in, life and death stuff) so I have to watch my money.

MRI is tomorrow 1:30. Hey, maybe I'll be able to post some pics :lmao:
