I haven't read my spam in ages due to spamassassin.

Since I am starting up a company, I have relaxed the strictness of the filter and it allows in a bit more now - but now I also have a client side filter as well.

On a related note, I was getting well over 100 spam messages a day - then about a week or two ago they dropped to about 60 messages a day.
I attributed it to the blackout, the worms, and the viruses - but then I read that a guy in New Zealand (I think it was there) was busted and no longer sending out spam and it was actually having a dramatic effect on the e-mail community.

It is an open source Perl program that uses Bayesian filtering and some other nifty things like genetic algorithms to determine which little bits of code to use against scoring out whether something is spam or not.

If you use webmail, then you are at the mercy of whatever the provider gives you to filter on the server.
