best program for one touch hard drive/operating system restore?

Havign recently lost a ton of data due to tablet hard drive failure I'm left wondering how to prevent it from happening again. I have norton ghost but have never used it. I also have a backup external hard drive that would fit many more times the size of my current files and operating system.

Is norton ghost the best?

Ghost.. image the drive and store on a dvd..

There is a free open source one on sourceforge too that is just as good...

Norton go back works well for restoring

I have 500 gigs worth of hard drive space that I put seperate partitions on for data storage. also have the important stuff backed up on external hard drives. I try to make a system backup just using windows
