Italy only got through to the semi finals after they scored that penalty against AUSTRALIA of all countrie under dubvious circumstances - I mean, we only have 4 people who actually play the game there.
they were tight in their last match though.
Zidane has been the best player so far.

Didn't Ballack assists the last 3 German goals? I think he did, and by far the most dangerous player on the field.
Why Germans thinked that way because they expected much more from him, like goals. And a place in final.

People new to soccer will always go by what they see in the box score. Odonkor stood out because he would come in at 70 minutes and blow by the defenders at the wing position and center the ball...the problem was actually having someone open in the middle. Ballack was keyed the entire game so instead of having an open shot he would draw defenders then pass to the open stiker who would then score. While this isn't MVP material, it was still a vital part of Germany's success. That being said I sincerely enjoyed watching Germany play ball...very aggressive and explosive.
Spanky11, Zidane pulled out all the stops? He scored on a penalty shot that wasn't created by him in the first place. How exactly was his play special? I will give him credit on touch and ball control, he was the absolute best at that throughout the entire world cup, IMO.
Why can't people give credit where it's due? Instead of being pissy about your teams losing sit back and look at the entire picture. You're complaining about Italy diving, yet have no excuse about them giving up ZERO, that's right, ZERO goals throughout the entire World Cup. Why don't you find a way to score on us before criticizing the way we handle losses...which hasn't happened in oh, I don't know...30 games. And I'm sure everyone remembers exactly how Italy handled their last loss since they so quickly commented on how we reacted to it.

Once again, Zidane is overatted. France would be nothing without Vieira and Makelele. When Makelele left the Real Madrid, the team wasnt the same anymore. Of course, he doesnt score 20 goals a year, barely one or two. Doesnt do hot tricks but he's a machine, just like Gatuso. Zidane just happened to play with the right system and a good defence, something Ronaldinho couldnt claim. I think Ribery did a better job than him.
And honestly, Henry doesnt really deserve the MVP. He spends the whole game waiting for the right pass. Strikers like him get all the credits because scoring is cool on TV. But if you manage to control the midfield and leave him alone (like what happened during the Barca vs. Arsenal final) then they just become useless. At least guys like Ronaldinho, Zidane, Ballack, Del Piero can create and score.

Do you guys watch soccer only during the world cup or all year long ? Obviously we havent watched the same games this season because Zidane SUCKED ASS with the Real Madrid while Ronaldinho won the Champion league. Zidane was pathetic this season while having the best players with him (Roberto Carlos, Robinho, Beckham, Casillas, Ronaldo). Ok, he scored the 3rd goal against Spain while France was already winning and another one against Portugal on penalty. Now everyone is going ape shit. Vieira and Makelele made shit happen. Not Zidane. France would have won against Spain even with Zidane sitting on the bench. Now take out the 2 others and France would have made fool of themselves. They blocked the midfield and Spain was nt the same anymore.
Ronaldinho was forced to play on the left side, as some kind of interior midfield. Unusual for him since he played as center midlfielder under Scolari and Rijkaard (Barcelona) with more freedom. Pareira stuck him on the left flank for some weird reasons. Apparently to allow Emerson and Kaka to do their thing.
