Best offense in the NFL?

TheProject

New member
One of my coworkers is a huge Chiefs fan, and is completely down on Trent Green. He blames all the Chiefs' offensive problems on Trent, and says that with the exception of QB, there's not another team in the NFL that has a more talented group of offensive starters. He grudgingly admits that MAYBE the Jets are close.

So...anyone wanna help me tear this apart? Or is he right?

Just cock slap him and tell him "Wodin said to do this because your assertion is full of shit." ...I'm known all over...just go ahead.

Top 5.

49ers, Dolphins, Eagles, Saints, Chargers.

Ummm, how about the Patriots, who just beat the chiefs and are gonna roll San Diego this week. Oh, buy the way. The Pats offensive are so good that they can throw to any reciever on the field and score, or run and score.

Go Pats

See, we were breaking this down by position, and he says:

(1) No one has a TE that is even close to Tony Gonzalez. Okay, he's the best in the league, but if I'm looking for a superstar offensive player, TE is not high on my list.

(2) Priest is quite possibly the best RB in the NFL right now.

(3) Morton and Kennison as a WR tandem are better than any of the other top 2 receivers in the league.

I know he's wrong...just can't prove it.

And PatsFan, if the Patriots offense is so good...how come they had such a hard time with an abysmal Chiefs defense in the first half?

I think top 5 offenses are...

- Rams
- Eagles
- Pats
- Colts
- Packers

Top 5 D

- Eagles
- Chargers
- Pats
- Dolphins
- Giants

The only credit I'll give the chiefs is Priest Holmes. The guys have a great start, if he can keep it up, then the chiefs might end the season 8-8. But c'mon, the Pats are unstoppable!!! It's like having the whole Superbowl team on the field everyweek. They barely made any changes in the off season. So everyone is still on the same page!!!

I can name a dozen WR Tandem which are better...

bruce/holt - Rams
brown/rice - Raiders
hines/burress - Steelers
horn/stallworth - Saints
Harrison/Ismail - Colts

Just to name a few

I'm not arguing about who's better, Chiefs or Patriots. I think that's pretty clear. All I'm saying is that if their offense was THAT good, they should have demolished the Chiefs early on, not won the game with a FG in overtime.

Morgan/Johnson - Browns
Branch/Brown - Pats
Chambers/Gadsden - fins
PRICE/MOULDS - THE BEST TANDEM IN THE LEAGUE

rams have to drop out of this list until they show they have an offense still.

till then, the raiders should be looked at.. miami, philly, and new england...

new england doesnt have great players, i think its more coaching there.. they spread you out and find the mismatch and they abuse it... i wasnt sold on NE as a great team... but they are actually making me think i have no idea how good they are. i've never seen a team go 5 wide this regular (apart from pitt. 6 years ago)... NE is lacking a top running back, sorry.. smith is good but he is more of a 4 per carry guy... not a big play guy by any means.

how bout the browns??? they've put up points in a hurry...

hmmm, the eagles may be the most complete offense in the league, skill at every position... hmmmmm

Jeremy Shockey, (he will redifine the position)
Chad Lewis, (best red zone TE in the league)
Shannon Sharpe (pure athleaticism -- basically won a sb for bal.)
& Randy McMicheal (up and comer in mia)

are 4 tight ends I would take over Gonzalez.

If you let any team score 38 against you, the blame goes to the Defense and the Coordinator. The D was of, that's why the game was so close. But I'm not trying to argue with you either pal!!!

For some reason, I like the Iggles Offense as well. Damn you Cure, I said it outloud!!!

Okay, now we're getting somewhere...

The Rams, I can see...they've got Faulk at RB, but who's their TE, and how's their OL stack up?

Rice is too old to compare, IMHO.

The Colts are an interesting one to throw in there too. They've got a great RB in James, but their TE is no one I've heard of.

I think there are a lot of teams that have individuals that are better than the Chiefs at these positions, but as a group?

Marcus Pollard is a great TE for Indy but you have to understand that not every team needs a pro bowl tight end. Martz schemes in St.Louis don't need a TE to be running routes to be a productive offense.

Nature Boy, I tend to agree with you, however, I still maintain that if their offense was that potent, they should have done a better job of taking apart the Chiefs D in the first half. The Chiefs defense is TERRIBLE. Full of no-names, mostly.

Cure, I completely agree with you on the TE point. I think he's overemphasizing the importance of Gonzalez, and that the Chiefs have used hiim as a go-to guy in the absence of someone better at wide out.

I'm just trying to pick apart his claim that if you look at all the offensive positions, take out the QB, there's not a group better than the Chiefs.

remember dallas' no name defense??? the one that sent nobody to the probowl... and won the superbowl.

Raiders

Gannon -QB
Garner -RB
Wheatly-2 RB
Brown -WR
McKnight -WR
Rice -WR
Porter -WR
Jolly- TE

check out the numbers

I agree, you don't have to have a defense full of pro bowl caliber players, but you've got to have players that are worthy of starting in the NFL. We have CB problems right now with injuries, and talent issues across the board.

HI, I'd say that's close, but I show their starting TE as Roland Williams, whose numbers are not very good.

I'd say Brown/Knight could be a better duo than Morton/Kennison, but Knight's a rookie, so it's hard to say.

FUCK YA! PATS!!!!

Its hard to say so far. The teams that should have the best offense, up to this point, haven't. The Pats have played great on offense, but I don't see that lasting. Their success might, but I dont think their points will.

The Chiefs have been playing great on offense. Priest Holmes is just killing teams.

The Eagles have been racking up some numbers also.

I'd still say the best offense, assuming the rams don't get it together, is the Colts now that James is back.

If it were last year, i'd say a split between the colts, rams and 9ers.

The reason why the Chiefs don't succeed comes down to one person=Carl Peterson.

He constantly embarress the team, organiztion and city every single year.

1.) Horrible contract negiations. gonzales, Simms etc,

2.) Almost annually gets accussed of unethical tampering.

3.) The whole Gannon/Grbac thing made the Chiefs the laughing stock of the NFL.

Oh yeah-did I mention the Carl really loves dick...I mean "REAlly" loves dick.

Phins vs. Pats

This week, dolphins vs. chiefs. If the Chiefs really do have a contender at offense, we will see how they go against the phins.

Next week, patriots vs. dolphins for the true test of who is the best (ooh that rhymed).. Patriots are kicking ass this year, they were good last year and won the Superbowl, but this year they really are showing as a spectacular team in every aspect of the game, off-def-and special teams..

in the NFC the Eagles are looking damn good, but havent had a strong opponent yet, and they play the Texans this week, yawn.
