Best Bodybuilding Book?

I am thinking about Arnold's New Modern Encyclopedia, and have read some old threads about it. However, I still can't decide which one has the most information on routines, exercises, etc...

What have you all bought and liked?
 
I checked around and ended up with Arnold book. It was only 25 dollars and has recently been updated. I have small rear delts and his book shows a lot of good pics and has some great movements that have helped me build my weak areas. I highly recommend the Arnold Encyclopedia. :)
 
Arnold's book has great exercise descriptions, a nice hall of fame section (according to who?), and little else of value. His routines are for the super-duper genetically gifted walking pharmacy people. His diet plans are way outdated. there are a lot better books out there. I just ordered 3 books on periodization. I'll check back with a review for ya.

I agree those workout routines are a little crazy and so are the diet plans
 
Might sound cheesy,but "The Book of Muscle" by Mens Health is good,newly released,covers evreything from detailed charts of muscles,excercises,routines,diet plans,etc,about half way through it,hard cover,not bad.......

So I guess the general concensus is that Arnold's book is a little extreme, what about Weider's Ultimate Bodybuilding

i take this guy seriously, and have followed some of his back routines. back is now my fastest growing bodyarea. i also agree with his training principles, rep ranges etc.
 
When I started out on my journey at 128lbs I used Arnold's workout routines and diet. I was in my mid-30s when I started and found that following it was not only intense, but turned me from a 128lb soaking wet geek, to a 210lbs dry geek. I still refer back to it often.

I agree, routines are a bit much but the pics are awesome, I own both versions of the book

basically talks about your workout in fine detail- talks about each rep and how to execute it properly, techniques to use to get the most out of an individual rep (ie how to think to make your muscle do what you want it to do for the rep), but the way he writes, explains things and offers information, you can actually APPLY it to your training, my workout quality skyrocketed using his principles

its all the difference between just going through the motions of moving the weight for a set, and moving it a way to actually safely stimulate and exercise the muscle/body area.

Check out charlespoliquin.net. I incorporate alot of things from him into my workouts...definitely a smart mother fucker.
