Beer- good or bad?

This might be a really stupid question, but is drinking a moderate amount of alcohol part of a healthy or unhealthy diet? I've done some researches, and so far I know that beer contains little fat, but alcohol is high in calories. How does this result to the most common effect of drinking beer - gaining the beer belly?
 
Alcohol = bad in any situation , period - especially when you're trying to diet

It isn't optimal but drinking a few on a cheat day is how I schedule my alcohol consumption. It isn't the carbs it's the alcohol Kcal and its effect on your metabolism. The average light beer has around 4g-5g of carbs.
 
I think I read that alcohol basically stops your ability to burn fat. I really need to stop drinking.
 
Alchohol is good for you once in a while in my opinion. I just don't get the european culture of drinking the whole time... Wine with one meal a day is meant to be healthy for your heart...

Suprising comment, considering some of your posts have been very against any consumption of alcohol. Do you drink at all? Just curious.

Wine and clear liquor (vodka,) without the sugars is the best alcohol to consume as a bodybuilder, if their is such a thing. I drink everything straight or with diet soda. No Beer.
