I haven't trained in about two weeks and lost some weight. I haven't been eating and I've just been lying in bed for the past two weeks. I tried working out today again but I'm still coughing and I wasn't able to get a good workout.

What do you guys do to deal with coming back after being ill?

Bro, if you still feel sick, then wait it out some more. I know it's hard to do, because you just feel that itch to run, not walk to the gym. I was sick from monday, until just today. I stayed away for as long as I could. But I ended up going in wendesday. My strength sucked, my lungs sorta hurt from coughing so much. So, I cut it short went home and rested. Besides, not cool to get other bro's sick.

So, you lose a little weight. Your strength may go down a little too. But your body is funny in some ways. It seems to remember where you were. So, anything lost comes back real quick. Just use that as motivation when you get back to the gym 110%.

But if you feel you really must get there. Just do some light sets, stay no longer than 15-20mins. Then get back home and rest. Don't worry about it bro, we all get sick from time to time. Just remember that you come back with a new desire, and drive to get even better than before! Good luck, and hope you feel 110% real soon.

Yeah, I'd wait it out man. You'll only make yourself worse. Keep eating like a horse and get to the gym when you feel 100%. Good luck.

MaGilicuti,

In my opinion you have to attack this situation on 2 fronts.

First from the physical. Like the other guys said, if your still too sick to lift....don't lift, that's only going to make things worse. That doesn't mean you get to eat like shit though. Make sure to keep on the anti-oxidents to kill those bastard free radicals in the blood stream. Make sure that you feel physically up to getting back in the gym.

The second factor is the mental. In my opinion this is the hardest. Any long lay-off be it vacation, sickness, or just being lazy, makes it tough to get back in the groove. Once you feel better think of something that makes you want to hit the gym, be it girls, the beach, or just a good pump. Think about it all day, use it to get you in the gym. The next will be that much easier, though you will still need some motivation. Do this several days in a row and you will soon start to have what I call "The guilt factor". Even if I totally don't feel like hitting the gym, I've tricked myself into feeling guilty for not going to the gym. Just bust your freakin' ass!!!

Bottom line, I've seen your pics. I know you've got the work ethic to get back in there and get back in the groove.

Are you going to let a little virus get you down?? I didn't think so.

C3Bodybuilding is right. Once you have been up to a certain weight and strength level, it I way easier to get back up to it. I say, you will be back in 5 weeks. Take lots of protein.
