I don't think it matters. I can sleep anywhere if I'm tired enough. I lay with the top of my head pointing west, my feet east and I turn my head to face the north.

I have my head west and fall asleep on my back or right side,I read something once about laying on your right side slows your heart beat so you can fall asleep better, not to sure how true it is but I find the right side is comfy
i sleep on my left side. if me and cutiepie switched sides on the bed, i'd end up sleeping on my right side after a while. ever since she stopped draping herself over top of me while we sleep, i started facing away from her. dunno why.
The "theory" (though far from scientificaly proven) :
According to Vaastu (Vaastu is a profound science of structures. It is derived from the Sanskrit language, which was in vogue thousands of years ago), like the Sun, the earth's magnetic field's also wield considerable influence on human life.
That is so because the human body likes a magnet with the head as the heaviest and most important part of the body as the north pole. If the head is towards the north while sleeping, the north pole of the Earth and the head acting as north pole of the body repel each other , thus affecting blood circulation, and resulting in disturbed sleep and tension.
The position of the bed should be such that one can sleep with his head towards the south or east , never towards north.
