BC and hormone fluctuation

I'm not sure this is the correct forum for this, but here it goes:

My girlfriend just went off birth control. She got some acne on her shoulders/back. She is horrified. I thought, "hmm, well, if this happens to guys when they go off of steroids because their hormones are all in flux, maybe it happens to women too."

What do you think? Do you girls experience any side effects coming off birth control?
