Avi DivX MPG to DVD software...help.

Anyone recommend a good program for converting and burning you comps videos? Preferably all in one (convert and burn and add menus).

It's more complicated than you think. I had my parents buy a computer w/ a dvd burner and after I found out how complicated it was I kind of lost motivation...I think I burned maybe 7 DVD's.....weak yes....

I can't recall wtf I used however I'm interested in this thread so yeah, subscribed.

You mirror my thoughts... I believe at the time I read shit for over 5 hours, and had to use ~3-4 programs to accomplish what I wanted....which was burning downloaded shit onto DVDs.

If I had it on my PC i'd prolly be up to date but I'm only home every now and then again so def lost interest. I'm looking into to buying a DVD/CDR burner though so who knows wtf is going on now? Easier? Please? This was like 9 months ago...

yah, i went through something like that then thought...noooo waaaayy

imo its far easier to either buy a dvd player that plays divx anyway, or hook your computer up to your tv

meanwhile, ill stick to watching stuff on my laptop

ya i know what you guys mean. pain in the ass. but i did find one that does what we want. look here http://www.anytodvd.com/. there AVI DivX MPEG to DVD Converter & Burner does it all.

works pretty good. converts, burns, adds menus. buuuuut it seems to cut my videos at 698 megs. must be to fit on a cd-r. cant find any options to fix this. and i cant find there FAQs.

got it free off a torrent by the way. let me know and i'll try and steer you guys toward it to try out.

There's a program called DVD Santa that will encode your files so they can be burned onto a DVD. It takes a long ass time but it works well. I've set it up to encode some stuff and I'll let it go all day while I'm not home or at night.

Nero 6 Ultra Edition has always woked really well for me, plus you can but like like 5 movies on one dvd.

i use ULead DVD movie factory. i know it converts avi and mpeg, i'm not 100% sure on divx tho i think it does. it came with a pvr i bought so i don't know the cost but i don't think it's normally free

works flawlessly for me

I would think if you're converting a movie from computer to a dvd it'd be low resolution. Even the biggest movies i've d/led from the net were 700mb or so. That's about 20-25% the size you'd want in a real dvd. I want to burn some things to dvd to mail someone so i hope it works right.

The quality of what you're viewing it on will make a difference too. If you're planning on viewing on a regular TV then you probably won't notice. If you're viewing on a large high quality TV, they you'll probably see a difference.

I was told when ripping DVDs to try not to compress below 70% to fit it onto DVD in order to retain DVD quality picture. For some things, simply dropping the foriegn languages works, for others you have to drop all the foriegn languages and menus. Plus if given the chioce between ripping 4:3 aspect and widescreen, I'll take widescreen. We'll get a widescreen TV eventually and I want to take full advantage of it when we do.

Did yours come with nero vision express??

You just add what ever video files you want, make all you menus and crap(lots of options) push burn and nero takes care of encoding and all of that stuff.

Wow! This thing is loaded with options and features! Easy to use. Menus look professionally done (full motion menus if you want!)

I use that too.

Whether it does xvid or not it depends ONLY on the codecs installed on your machine.

I just did last week 12 full-time XVIDS to DVD conversion. The rendering takes some time, about 3 hours for 90 min video but the results are flawless.
