Avandia verses Glucophage

Whacked

New member
The benefits of increased insulin sensitivity are vast. Conversely,
the ill-effects of insulin resistance are extremely unhealthy (Obesity/heart disease/diabetes/hypertriglyceridemia).

AS and GH to a greater degree have been shown to decrease insulin sensitivity.

Wouldn't a great health strategy (and mild anabolic component) be to supplement one's regimine with one or the other?

LET'S NOT TURN THIS INTO AN ALA/r-ALA thread!!!! Thank you

SIMPLISTIC DESCRIPTION OF EACH:

Glucopahge/Metformin:

Metformin is used to regulate blood glucose (sugar) levels. Metformin works in three ways: first, it reduces the amount of glucose produced by your liver; second, it reduces the amount of glucose absorbed from food through your stomach; and third, it makes the insulin that your body produces work better to reduce the amount of glucose already in your blood.

Metformin is used to treat non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM or Type II diabetes).

Metformin may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Avandia/Rosiglitazone:

Avandia/Rosiglitazone is an antihyperglycemic agent. It helps the body respond better to insulin and it reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver. It can help control blood sugar levels.

Rosiglitazone is used, along with diet and exercise, in the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type II diabetes). Rosiglitazone may also be used with a sulfonylurea (e.g., Diabeta, Glucotrol, Micronase, others), metformin (Glucophage), or insulin when diet and exercise plus any one of these medicines alone do not result in adequate blood sugar control.

Rosiglitazone may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Glucophage made me feel constantly bloated and full. I think it's primary action is to delay absorption of carbs through the digestive tract. Is avandia liver toxic?

WHAT isn't to a certain degree these days

I'm pretty sure your liver values should be monitored while on BOTH of these drugs.

What benefits would Avandia have for bodybuilding?

increases insulin sensitivity (GH and AS users typically have blunted insulin receptors cells-----which potentiates fat gain, cholesterol problems, diabetes, and heart disease)

I read one study that stacked avandia with HGH and metformin with HGH. I can't find it, but here is the summary: Metformin was found not be effective in overcoming HGH-induced insulin resistance. I have to agree with this conclusion based on my client's response to this combo. Avandia was found to work, but the subjects gained fat. I have to agree with this as well, for several clients did report fat gain using Avandia. See, Avandia doesn't discriminate between muscle and adipose tissue. It increases insulin sensitivity in adipose tissue, hence the fat gain.

I have found a strict diet of high protein, moderate clean carbs (oatmeal, beans/legumes, green veggies, rice (brown is better)--no bread, pasta, potatoes), and low fat (peanut oil, olive oil--monosaturates) allows the HGH user to overcome the insulin resistance problem.
