let's say a lady had a car she was paying for and it was in her parents name. they had insurance on it but now said F off get your own insurance. Can she insure a car that is not in her own name on the registration?

It depends on your state. In New york the person who has the car insured must also have the car registered in their name.

Insurance cards must include the exact name(s) which will appear on the registration.

so could the girl and her mother be on the insurance then to satisfy requirements. like the girl goes and gets insurance as a part time driver of the car and the mother as the primary driver or would only the mothers name have to be on the insurance and the daughter driving it would still be covered? I am not good at this stuff

They would both need to be on the insurance policy. My husband is insured under my name. He is on my policy so he has insurance cards with his name on them. I am the primary. His cars are registered under his name only. Hope this helps!

To be honest with you, if she can afford it, tell her to get her own policy. If she continues to have it under her moms name, when she finally wants her own car the insurance is going to be through the roof. She should get her own policy and establish a good driving record. I know it's expensive, but it's sooo worth it!! Good luck.
