what does it mean to aspirate.. i know i sound like a dumbass.. i am new,, i admit it.. please help

when you stick, slightly draw back plunger to make sure your not in a vein(dont want to pull blood into syringe)

aspirating is very important so its not a dumb question. i know alot of guys who just jab themselves and shoot.. they don't even think about it.. its scary!
