For those who use aspartame:

Have you encountered problems with aspartame (increasing apetite, feeling weak,.....) ?

Please:
no BS info like methanol, cancer, Alzheimer's Disease,.... and all the sugar (sucrose, HFS) industry propaganda

I've used it for years. Never had a problem. I think since lifters normally eat a pretty bland diet, it's a godsend.

So what's up Anthrax, you been having any of those symptoms?

I am also using aspartame on a regular basis, without any problem ...

I just wanted to know others opinions and to listen for those who just believe any BS papers about aspartame

I remember, like your blood turning to acid and getting five different forms of cancer. I do love the classics. :D

... like the brain cancer that makes you become blind ? LOL

any more reports on aspartame (real) side effects ?

I use equal every day..

My mom called me last week to tell me she read an article that aspartame makes PMS much worse....

hellz, I can't like without my equal..I'll take the pain!

anyone else hear this??

There have been studies showing that it may act as an appetite depressant. In the past, I have used it while following low calorie diets and CKD's for this purpose and it seemed to be fairly effective....with no problems.

thanx Mr BMJ

What about saccharine and cyclamates ?
They have been suspected to be carcinogenic (though they have been "cleared" by the fda and declared GRAS - Generaly recognized as safe) :o

I agree Aspartame does kill the appetite. Someone told me once when i was really hungry and craving carbs to just take a small packet of Aspartame and eat it, it actually worked pretty good i can say. Killed desire for carbs and helped kill appetite a bit. I know also after a shake w/ aspartame i wont feel hungry for a while and have to force my 2nd shake in.

Many people who consume aspertame slowly develop a taste for sweeter sweets because apsertame is stronger than most natural sugars.

Aspartame only works reliably as an appetite suppressant if you put it in a capsule and swallow (ie your taste buds don't get to register that it's sweet). It actually a very good appetite suppresant. If consumed as a sweetener, it has no effect on most people's appeitie.

OK,

so no effect on most people's appetite.

What about saccharine and cyclamates ?
They have been suspected to be carcinogenic (though they have been "cleared" by the fda and declared GRAS - Generaly recognized as safe)

Do you really believe that BS info :(

scientifically stupid, no proof : it is just considerable disinformation and exaggeration

do some real scientific research on it, med/science journals etc. NOT disscussion boards; and you may be suprised, that's all. I Don't think it is as bad as some make it out to be, however some people may find out by avoiding it that the're sensitive to it in some way.

That would be impossible. There is no scientific/medical reasearch on this. If you know of some, I'd like to see it.

The fact that some people could be sensitive to it applies to any food.

I just looked at the link for about a minute, scrolled to the bottom and could not find a non-authority-based reference. The references I saw seemed to be references to doctors, the FDA, and articles, but those are useless since they only provide opinions that can be open to bias. I would like to see some blind studies on this matter. Maybe some people have bad reactions to it, but I'm not even sure if this holds true, if so, is it any worse than other substance that had an allergic population? I personally do not like the link you posted because it lists at bunch of possible adverse reactions that almost anyone, whether aspartame user or not, may be experiencing. Plus, after skimming through the site, the site appears to be an extreme exaggeration. If someone showed me that a few years ago, I would think that aspartame is related to almost every disease known to man.

I know a "guy" real well who injects himself with underground lab produced gear and homemode fina. "He" certainly isn't too worried about the effects of diet Coke.
