I personally like a body like Arnold circa 1975 better than what is out there today. I think that people like Nasser are positively rediculous looking. I would never want to be 300lbs, even if it was solid muscle.

I personally like Lou Ferrigno's body better. I like his definition, V-shape, and the fact that he's not overly huge like today's BBs. Plus he's a real quality guy and overcame a lot throughout his life.

Arnold...His front double biceps on a copy of Muscle Builder got me started lifting way back when...I still would rather have Arnold's physique than any of the current guys...

i want to be so HUGE where iam not even called human no more...i want to be called the "definition of half man and half machine"....

Columbo is too short. Guys who are like 5'2"-5'4" are a little rediculous if you want my opinion of it. Lou seems like a nice guy, but his dad is kinda wierd. If you ever watched Pumping Iron you know what I mean.

I prefer a more rugged physique for myself. I like the Yates look. Arnold was the man, best chest and bis ever, but aside from that, he could have used more girth in some spots.

Mentzer had a couple of great photos from his prime too. Very impressive.

Arnold is the man. I've got a poster of him in the bedroom. Everytime I go to bed I hit the same side chest pose. Maybe one day..............:D

I'll say this, bodybuilding was more respected back when Arnold was Mr. O. Arnold made it damn near main stream. Back then, you could catch the shows, both bb and strong man, on the "Wide World of Sports". Now, all mainstream coverage (what little there is of it), is centered around drug use. It's a shame because it's a great sport, probably the toughest of them all, and it gets the shaft. Drug use extends way beyond bodybuilding and is hardly the big evil it's made out to be.

I love Arnold's phyique. I watch pumping iron all the time. Great fucking movie. The reason I think his physique was so much better was his legs. Todays bobybuilders legs look way way too big. Its just gross.

When Arnold was competing, bodybuilding had a chance of being more widely accepted by the public. His physique was well developed AND AESTHETICALLY PLEASING! That can not be said about today's bodybuilding champs.

alot of the pros you see in the mags and on tv or whatever, well since most of you dont to get to see them up close and personal, well your right they are huge and freaky, but most of them arent that tall, so when you see them they are wide and huge but no heigth........remember arnold is 6'2, standing to a 6'5 lou that weighed 275, arnold still put a sizing on him, just remember ronnie coleman is like 5'10 on the large end, so sure theyre big, but not tall, so in person they dont look huge like arnold.

Arnold is not 6'2 and probably never has been. A large majority of stars and bodybuilders bs their height. And no, I'm not talking out of my arse either, the last time he was in town shooting a movie my cousin bumped into him at the entrance of the hotel where he was staying. They began speaking for a couple of minutes (my cousin was trying to get Arnold to go party with him) and my cousin realized that Arnold was no more than 2 inches taller than him. My cousin is 5'9.

bro back in the day arnold was 6'2 did you see pumping iron, he was alomost as tall as lou ferigno, i have argued this many times with people, any bio you look up on arnold will say6'2, I agree alot of celebs jack their stats up, but bro arnold is tall, he is 6'1 at the least right now, your cousin is full of shit, he was trying to sound impressive, if he is 5'9 and said arnold was only 2 inches taller, and seeing how your cousin could easily make himself sound taller, arnold is around 6'1 present day. ohh yeah I see lou ferigno everyday, and he is 6'5 bro.

Arnold was Great in his time, but I wouldn't watch what is atainable (minse is great genetics). I want super freaks spending thousands on drugs to be a size I can't barely dream about.

yes, arnold was the greatest, and it was all because of his legs and chest. his legs weren't so massive, that they offset his upper body. his legs were at a size that most of us can actually relate too (28.5 inches). today's bbers got 31-35, and that's just nasty. with his smaller, more aesthetic legs, and big calves, it made his big upperbody look even more out of proportion in a good way. arnold has the perfect physique.

My cousin is a fat, out of shape bastard who could care less about his appearance or the appearance of Arnold. His main concern goals in life are to party and make money, not compare his physical stature to Arnold's or anyone's for that matter, because he doesn't have much to compare with. And my cousin didn't tell me his own height, I've seen it measured. Therefore, he has nothing to gain by short-changing Arnold's stats. This is not a put-down on the greatest bb of all time, just to point out that he's probably bs' ing about his height.

Keep it beefy, there's no need to call me out computer gangster. You could have simply replied as did CN1 with a differing point of view. Yes, I have been to wax museums. What did you do when you went to one, pull out a measuring tape to confirm the stats? What are you, Arnold's jock rider?

This question has been asked over and over again. I like hte old bodybuilders bc they are less freakish but I do like today's BB's size. However, I do not like Arnold bc in his famous book he says he doesn't condone the use of steroids and is against them. WTF?

Huge distended belly from too much insulin & hGH or tight abs and small waist? Hmmm....that's a tough choice.

Arnold wins any day.

Arnold fit the romantic, Greek Statuesque, vision of ultimate muscularity & manhood-----large bi's & pecs, wide shoulders, thin waist, athletic legs---he looked like he could do more than just pump, flex, and pose. Certainly, something worthy to aspire to. Today, the norm are these behemoth, round freaks, that look like they would be totally incapable of participating in any other athletic endeavor other than injecting and flexing.

I just think that we should all watch T2 again. That move was made over a decade after his last Mr. Olympia competition. But look at him. That one schene where he takes the knife and cuts his forearm off. That is a great schene. His forearm and bis are still huge. Even in the 6th Day Arnold has some respectable bis. The dude is now like 54-55 years old and he still has a great body.

Today's champs too ripped

Since 1975 I think bodybuilding has veered away from aesthetics and become more and more of a freakshow. The top pros today bear very little resemblance to human beings.

Dorian is huge, but would I want to look like that? No way. He looks like a guy trapped inside a vascular refrigerator of excess muscle.

Sure, all the bbers in the 60s and 70s were juiced, but they looked a lot healthier than our champs today, who are basically daredevils, seeing how big and ripped they can get just this side of death.

Personally I think being ripped and vascular is way overemphasized in today's bodybuilding. I wish judging standards were what they were in the 1970s. The pros would be a lot healthier, they wouldn't be falling over dead backstage, and they'd be able to keep a career going longer than two or three years.

i know a lot of guys will say I sound like a PUSSY, but that's my two cents. I'd much rather be healthy, striving to look like Marcus Reinhardt, than destroy myself trying to look like Dorian:fro:

Don't worry about being called a pussy. I would say this post and that other one about goals and its poll asking Mr O type body v. Muscle and Fitness cover, reveal that there are alot more people on this board who would rather look like an Arnold than a Coleman.

madog69, no way

Franco couldn't beat Arnold. One must be realistic here.
It was harder for him to win against Serge Nubret. The final line up against Franco was just a formality.

Clone Frank Sepe?

Yep, Frank Sepe juiced was pretty hard to beat. There's pix of him in that condition all over the net.

Of course, not only the physique, I'd want that face of his as well. Any plastic surgeons in the house?:D

i have to disagree with you Mark

This poll is fantastic. Lots of votes and Arnold is destroying them all.

Arnold had everything going for him. His charisma, his body, people wanted him, wanted him to win and most important he had the Weiders on his side.

In my opinion, Sergio Oliva was the best BB ever. Especially if you see the pics of the Essen Olympia in 1972. They gave the title to Arnold as they did in 1980.

arnold

Hell yeah, Arnold!! He didn't have the outrageous bodies of today, they almost look sick... He looked absolutely faboo!! And he didn't overdo the drugs and get the GH gut that so many have today...

arnold is so much more than a bber...and that's the difference between him and today's monkeys...nobody has accomplished more than arnold...his physique was basically his sales pitch that got him into HOLLYWOOD...BUMP for the man...

I say Arnold! But, there is someone who is not on the list that I would have voted for: mr. Shawn Ray! He is the only true bodybuilder today because his physique is based on all the criterias a bodybuilder should have. Arnold in first place; Shawn Ray is also the best!

Frank Zane.....

I think Frank Zane had a ripped up body.. If you look at him and the the bigger BB's of his time, he was the one that had the "ripped" thing down packed..

levrone has the best body, the one i would want to look like the most. and if you look at a picture of levrone and schwarzenegger they are VERY similar.

Arnold is king :smash: I definitely like the look of the older BB's(arnold, surge, louie, olivia and my second favorite to arnold, Reeves) and so do women...and that's what were all about right

I like Arnolds shape and Lou was alright as well. Serge Nubre lookd goo as well. Come to think of it all the BB from that era looked good. Sergio Olivia was a huge, no denying that, but let's be honest his shape in some parts was just plain ugly. He had huge arms, BUT their shape looked shitty. HIs physique was very impressive but not very aesthetic. And it takes both to win. This is why Frank Zane could beat Arnold at first.

i personaly like the freaks. arnold had a great body but i do not believe he had the best genetics. that award would have to go to flex wheeler. if flex would have worked as hard as say dorian yates he would have been the best ever. to bad he has decided to retire.

arnold started things off but he wouln't stand a chance in hell with todays boys and best chest and arms belong to ronnie arnold couldn't stand next to ronnie i'm a big boy so bigger is better.just my 2 cents

i love looking at all the old pictures of arnold on the beach in southern cal with the hunnies hangin onto his arm and pointing to his biceps.classic

I don't mind the odd freak, but I would never want to look like one. I think Arnold looked great, but I'm going for more of a Zane look as my structure is somewhat similar (opposed to any of the other BBers) I have a lot of other stuff going on in my life and never want to be labelled as a monster or juicehead based on my appearance. Just a "fuck is he muscular and lean"

Arnold is the greatest of all time hands down. One unusual thing about his physique is when he's bone dry he doesn't look that big but when he's pumped he's huge "for any time period". If you want massive for Arnold's time try Sergio Oliva 5'4 240lbs that's mass.

:karate: More of what a physique should look like when tuned to perfection......too tricky-dicky in the pro's today.....don't like the style their sportin....kinda alienesk....too many heart stoppers shoved into their bodies, making them HIGH PERFORMANCE HAND-GRENADES.:splat:

My vote goes to Arnold 75'.

I definately say Arnold, he is the man when it comes to PHYSIQUE. The guys today have taken it too far in my opinion, but to each his own(I still like to watch current contest's). As much as I like Arnold, I was watching pumping iron the other day and I think his quads were really quite small in comparison to his upper body. I actually think this looks better than todays wheeled out competitors, but still kinda small....

Arnold
He had a perfectly balanced, proportioned, and symetric physique that no other bodybuilder, to this day, has come close to defeating.:freak:

Arnold is a living legend... end of story.. In my opinion he has dominated and been the best at everything he has done.
TAILS

I say Arnold as well. He actually looked kinda human. Ronnie Coleman is pretty nasty looking, especially w/ that humoungous belly he has.

Mike mentzer is one of my all-time favorites. But of our time, I would have to say Dorian. Coleman is too crazy, but I wouldn't complain if I was that size. Arnold is original, with great proportion and symmetry. Ever heard of Tito Raymond? He's a skinny bitch.

2 guys

Just two guys know the best ever? Jeff_rys and I'm not sure of the other guy, but Oliva is and was the best ever. 5'10 and the same weight as ahnol. gwl9dta4, what are you talking about ugly? His ass was beautiful. We can't comprehend someone as far ahead of now as he was then. Oliva.

anyone remember a guy by the name of dennis newman? he could have been the best ever.....his is the body i'd like to have staring back at me in the mirror

Dude look at some of his muscle bellies, they are not the full round balloon looking muscles that Arnold displayed. His biceps in particular looked like shit IMHO. He was difinitely big, but had a shitty shape to his muscles.

Sincerely :nopity:

Arnold - definitely - Although the Frank Zane look is awesome

Arnold is definitely STILL over 6'. Ran into him in Georgetown, DC last year, he was shopping with Maria. Also see him up in Idaho pretty regularly. I'm 6'. He's at least as tall or taller.

Whoever said these BB's don't look big in person - wakeup!

Marcus Ruhl in person looks like a Muscledhedz cartoon. Unbelievable. And Ronnie is as wide as a bus. His suits hang straight down at the sides, with about an 8'-10' gap between the end of his coat and his hips

Arnold all the WAY!!

Hi, CN1! Haven't seen you at the gym lately, but I was out for a while with a cold myself.

I don't believe Arnold is 6'2", since I'm a hair under five eleven and I've stood next to him more than once and he looked to just about exactly my height.

Ferrigno is definitely big, though. Standing next to him at the gym I have to look up at a VERY sharp angle.

BBers today look rediculous. People should start keeping track of how long they all live. Cut years off of your life just to have a disgusting gut and freaky muscles?

Seen Lou at arnold classic a and he was a dick head. past few years he just looked like he was super pissed off about something. JMO

I wanna look like someone stretched out the horizontal and vertical hold on the t.v. at the same time. So big that people bounce when I walk by, so powerful that the power rack at the gym grows feet and runs away when it sees me coming.......rooooaaaaarrrrrr:mad:

nah just kidding but i'd say arnold as well

kevin levrone, jay cutler 2001, and shawn ray are the best phisiques out there!

Arnold cant even start to compare to them!

IMO...

Best modern(roid-gut freak BB): Jay Cutler

Best BB ever: Arnold :)

Best old timer: Bill Pearl
