Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has asked Tower Records to remove a locally produced rap CD from its shelves that contains anti-police lyrics and a raunchy drawing of the sheriff.

"Valley attorney Paul Eckstein, an expert on First Amendment issues, said that if the drawing is an obvious parody, it's constitutionally protected. But the lyrics are a stickier issue.
He said general anti-police statements are protected, but statements that are likely to lead to "immediate violent action" may cross the line. "
Notes:An album similar to Ice-T's "cop killers" must immediately be pulled from shelves of the retailer due to the probability for violence- though no one has ever hear of it and it has only sold 2 copies...

Negotiations with two inmates holding a female corrections officer hostage entered a 13th day Friday in a prison standoff that could be the nation's lengthiest prison hostage situation in at least 50 years, an expert said.

"Other standoffs include an 11-day incident in 1987, when Cuban detainees took control of a penitentiary in Atlanta and held more than 100 hostages. Inmates in Lucasville, Ohio, also staged an 11-day standoff in 1993, taking 12 guards hostage to stop mandatory tuberculosis testing. "
Notes:This situation involves two inmates who originally took two corrections officers hostage (one male and one female). The male hostage was released last Saturday. The female hostage is still captive at this time.... Hardly the size or scale of the previous long standoffs mentioned above....
