Are things picking up at your business???

I've enjoyed a pretty good summer and some clients are saying that business is really improving recently. So I just spent $1200 with a company that guarantees my web site will achieve a minimum of 8 top ten placements within the major search engines within 90 days.

I'll reduce the size of my yellow page ad, phone books are being replaced by the internet and now we have several phone book companies..........yea.....we really need 3 yellow page books.

I was going to move to Australia but with all my recent investments in the web page and equipment, I'll see if things become palatable.

no the spring seems to bring 'em out like no other, but for some reason the place has been overflowin lately. I expect more this coming week with the bike rally going on. we always get some from there.

So do some people just periodically check into a mental hospital and conduct themselves normally the rest of the time?

I have honestly never known a person who has been in one though EF certainly has several strong candidates.

Nymphomania is a bad thing? Huh.

What about the hot chicks? Crazy people still take care of themselves?

tease.

But seriously, I'm thinking that what with you and rsnoble both having increases in business that Bush must've stumbled onto this board and pushed the magic button that makes the economy work again.

The prez normally has almost no influence on the economy. However I do believe that scaring the bejezus out of people does act to supress the economy.

People are putting their paychecks in a bag under the bed instead of spending it.

Hopefully it's just not a temporary child tax credit burst. I've already capitalized on that a little, but im worried after the short splurge will be right back to ground zero.

I've seen a steady improvement of the last year....still rough for most. What I would like to see is that unemployment rate drop in half.

That's a pretty naive point of view. What do you think Greenspan has been trying to do by injecting liquidity into the equity markets for the past 12 months?

Why would Bush want to scare people into not spending? Barring a 2nd wave terror attack, the level of economic stimulus over the next year is probably what will determine whether he gets re-elected or not.

That's going to take a lot more than just bringing the economy online. Yes, a good economy creates jobs. The problem is though, these jobs are just fucking gone. Right out of the damn country. No longer are they here. So theres going to have to be more than just a bunch of smart fucks sitting around crunching the gnp saying everything is fantastic when theres still millions of people without jobs. And the answer is not an additional 500,000 walmart door greeter type jobs.

I honestly don't think we can ever be a strong nation-in terms of good jobs-without getting our mfg. sector going.

And how your going to do that while competing with places like China I have no idea. Isn't it nice that the rich politicians sold us out with nafta, and now countries like China invade us with their low cost, low quality imports, thus destroying our job market, install over 3000 fronts for espionage that the fbi knows about, and everytime we go into walmart to make a purchase you are funding the China military.

Mfg. is the only way to go, the service sector is not the answer and a lot of that is going overseas also.

Any suggestions?

In the first quarter of this year we earned a 12% bonus. Well, being an American based company, they sent a memo saying that due to the war in Iraq business went down the tubes and the bonus program was suspended until further notice.

At the end of this past quarter we were surprised that the company reinstated the bonus program and paid all previously withheld bonues retroactively.

The said the market was on the upswing and business was once again profitable. blah blah blah

Lucky you. My company gave me a letter talking about "rightsizing" and we all got layed off. Thank god my shop biz is taking off.

Actually it is your post that screams of naivette.

Where is your economics degree from? Mine was from a national top 20 school. :D

Well, you obviously don't have an english degree because you misspelled "naivete".

I don't have an economics degree.

What does your degree have to do with what's going on with the economy right now? You're saying that because I don't have an economics degree that you know more than me?

Not to mention, you never mentioned why my post was naive.

I might try to get into the repo business part time. NOt for shits and kicks, for the money. That's doing well now also.

You have to be kind of cold blooded to drive away someones only mode of transportation.

I saw on an interview (CNBC or CNN), The very first thing in the gameplan of a startup company, They outsource the manufacturing overseas. #1 on the list, It`s a given now. If you don`t, you`re already losing money, so how the hell are the manufacturing jobs going to come back to the US?

We just started doing that on the side, I am partners in a retail delership, and we started doing our own financing about 6 months ago, therefore we now need a repo man......we have one now, but we are thinking about buying a "stealth tower" and doing it for ourselves and maybe a couple other dealers.......

Since Sept 11 "Business" has been great! To many god dam hours though!
