looking for a bar w low carbs and no 'hidden' carbs. eg most dont list glycerol (think its that) as a carb

Since in you're in Australia, check out HPLC (high protein, low carb) bars by Aussie Bodies. At 380 calories with 45g of protein and around 18g of carbs, they're practically a meal. Don't quote me on those numbers, but they're around the mark. They taste brilliant too - better than any of the Musashi crap available. You can buy them in any 7-11 if you're on the run, and of course from all health food stores etc...

18g carbs is way too high! do u live in australia?? there are better tasting ones than that on the market, though.most contain those hidden carbs..

But they're 18g of carbs that aren't hidden, as opposed to other bars. Also, they're the only low carb bar readily available when you're on the run (eg. in a 7-11 or something). They can be convenient for me, because I don't go keto when dieting.

Its really a trade-off between where you want to get your carbs from, and convenience... 18g really isn't that many if you're not zero-carbing...

Nitro-tech and pure protein are my fav. ones. On th topic of glycerol, our bodies dont treat it like normal carbs. Meaning it causes no change in blood sugar so there really isnt a need to fear it so much. Pure protein bars carb count is low and i believe they are low g.i. carbs so you realy wont get any kind of significant blood sugar spike

Most protein bars are crap. Too much saturated fat and expensive. Now, if I'm on the run I'll just pop inside a grocery store and get a tub of cottage cheese. The macronutrient profile is better then that of a bar, 55 grams of protein, 12-16 grams of carbs, and 0-6 grams of fat depending on whether you get the non-fat lor low fat version.
