Are people who choose to not have kids, selfish?

Freak Show

My friends and I were out yesterday and the subject came up. This girls says, " I'm never havin kids." My buddy called her selfish cuz she never gave any reason, just that she's not.
So I thought about it. Maybe its cuz two things that people lack alot nowadays is time and money. Two things kids take the most of. I mean, if people can't find time to hit the gym(#1 excuse), how the hell are they gonna raise kids? On the other hand it sounds like an excuse. These people sound like they haven't done the things they should have in life. You know, have fun while you can. And now they refuse to give up any time they may have left. I think it would be a great experience. Yes I know its one of the hardest things to do, but sometimes they are the most rewarding.

What do you think?

Are people who don't want to have kids selfish?

Nope just smart:D

Seriously if someone wants to have kids thats fine. I don't at least in this juncture of my life.
I will say one thing that annoys me though is that the world is way overpopulated and anyone having more then 3 kids in this new millenium should get a kick in the ass.
Epec in some of these countries where there is little food for everyone and people are starving.

The only thing that is selfish is having a child and not wanting to raise it.

Well...

..we have been marries for 9 years, and all of our friends have at least one child. Does it seem like we are missing out on something, or out of the loop?? At times, yes. But I love spending time with her, just her.

Will we have kids later on? Probably.

Waiting to have children is NOT selfish. It is the most SELFLESS thing you can do - especially if you know that you aren't ready.

My .02.

If you are really to look at most (not all) people having kids today, its just to fill a void that they are having in there life and that is what is selfish!!

corn im the same way. ive been married for 7 years now and no kids. i just dont feel like im ready for kids yet. my wife's family on the other hand are the opposite. every single year someone is pregnant in that family. as soon as they get married, boom pregnant. how about giving the marriage a few years to grow before you start multiplying. in the era of super high divorce rates, this would seem like the logical thing to me. maybe this is also why there is a high percentage of single moms nowadays
