I'm starting back in the gym tomorrow. I need a good diet that will help me lose weight in a reasonable amount of time. I put on 30 pounds due to some major stress in my life. I'm not looking for a quick fix or a miracle, just something where I can see results in a reasonable amount of time to keep my motivation up. I have done CKD in the past, but I want to do something that I can stick to long term. Any suggestions?

40:40:20 Pro:Carbs:Fat, or for faster fat loss ckd for 2 months and then slowly bring back carbs, and go to a 40:40:20. Just make sure you eat good low gi carbs for the majority of carb intake, limit refined and simple carbs to almost none (just post workout dextrose and whey pro.), and take in good fats like flax, and olive oil. Eat carbs in the morning and afternoon and around your workouts only, and limit them at night to fibrous carbs like veggies. Eat protein and fat meals at night. Drink at least a gallon of water a day. List of good stuff to eat:

Skinless Chicken, lean Steak, Pork, turkey, Fish
Tuna
Oatmeal
Sweet Potatos
Brown rice
Fruit in moderation
Olive oil, Canola Oil
Flax oil or Fish Oil
Whey and Casein/Egg Protein
Cottage Cheese
Skim milk
splenda
Dextrose
Crystal light

Simples and easy to apply rules will probably be more helpful to you than writing out a diet. Maybe when you get 'had-kaw' that can change but:

1) NO ALCOHOL.
2) No refined sugar.
3) No heavy carbs (like doughnuts, muffins, pasta, rice).

Lean meats/fish and veggies, with the occasional fruits but don't overdue it because that's sugar too.
