I'm tinking of trying it for studying and workouts.

Maybe 5-10mg...

I know it's an amphetamine and it's addictive, but I would like you to share your experiences with it.

i've used it only for recreational purposes myself. and really never thought too much of it, personally. others swear its great for studying, etc. bump for bigA69.

a group of us were playing cards late drinking beer when on girl pulled out a small napkin of her kid bros ritalin. We were slowing down so with the belief that it was something like speed groud it and snorted it.The reactions were all different-one guy losy all his ability to concentrate on the game, I became obsessed with playing the next game, couple of the women got shaky and a litle naseaus. I ended up sit n by my self playing solitaire till 3

My roomate gave me some when I needed to stay up late one night. I was working on a marketing research project (boring as hell). The ritalin helped out big time. I dont think ive ever been as focused on doing 'homework'. =)

I think the best thing you can possibly do is get sleep. Sleep = better study. I didn't follow this phylosophy and I got very ill during my studies.

Yeah, try the Ritalin but research it first.

Thanks for the responses.

It's not that I don't have the energy to study, but I lack the discipline. I'll sit in front of my books for hours, thinking of other things and not get any work done.

Does it stimulate the CNS?

METHYLPHENIDATE; MINAPRINE; NOMIFENSINE
A SSRI can be combined ("augmented" sounds more soothing to the official medical ear) with a dopaminergic such as methylphenidate. As Ritalin, methylphenidate is prolifically dispensed to American schoolchildren for different purposes altogether. In spite of its structural relationship to amphetamine, methylphenidate resembles in many ways a benign version of cocaine, yet with a much longer half-life. It blocks the reuptake, but doesn't significantly release, the catecholamines noradrenaline and dopamine. If it is taken in sustained-release form or combined with an SSRI, all of which have anti-obsessive-compulsive properties too, then the likelihood of dose-escalation is minimised.

ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND: The purposes of this study were to investigate the pharmacokinetics of methylphenidate hydrochloride (Ritalin) in the human brain, to compare them with those of cocaine, and to evaluate whether cocaine and methylphenidate compete for the same binding sites. METHODS: We used positron emission tomography to measure the temporal and spatial distribution of carbon 11 (11C)-labeled methylphenidate. These results were compared with those obtained previously for [11C]cocaine. Eight healthy male subjects, 20 to 51 years of age, were scanned with [11C]methylphenidate. Three were tested twice to assess test-retest variability, four were tested at baseline and after administration of methylphenidate, and one was tested with [11C]methylphenidate and [11C]cocaine. Two baboons were scanned to evaluate whether there was competition between cocaine and methylphenidate for the same binding sites in the brain. RESULTS: The uptake of [11C]methylphenidate in the brain was high (mean +/- SD, 7.5% +/- 1.5%), and the maximal concentration occurred in striatum. Pretreatment with methylphenidate decreased binding only in striatum (40%). Although the regional distribution of [11C]methylphenidate, was identical to that of [11C]cocaine and they competed with each other for the same binding sites, these two drugs differed markedly in their pharmacokinetics. Clearance of [11C]methylphenidate from striatum (90 minutes) was significantly slower than that of [11C]cocaine (20 minutes). For both drugs, their fast uptake in striatum paralleled the experience of the "high." For methylphenidate, the high decreased very rapidly despite significant binding of the drug in the brain. In contrast, for cocaine, the decline in the high paralleled its fast rate of clearance from the brain. CONCLUSION: We speculate that because the experience of the high is associated with the fast uptake of cocaine and methylphenidate in the brain, the slow clearance of methylphenidate from the brain may serve as a limiting factor in promoting its frequent self-administration.

I have used generic ritalin. I only was on it for 3 days at a dose of like 15 mg a day. I didn't feel anything. Maybe I was not on it for a long enough time period to really give a chance to work?

Concerta

I take Concerta ED 18mg. It has done wonders for me. I have a little ADD, and it helps me to stay focused. It is also used to treat depression. It helps with norepinephrine and dopamine to increase concentration. It is also a powerful CNS stimulant.

A synergy exist when mixed with Methamphetamines such as Desoxyn or the street stuff.(very dangerous in term of dehydration)

Sleepness occurs the first few days and, if you get a powerful "high" off of it for too long then chances are you dont need it or the dose is too too much.

Concerta is a sustained released for 12 hours, with no peaks.
Adderal is usually taken with an antidepressant b.c of the crash.
It can cause heavy depression.

I used to have a script for it adderall years ago and it is some very addictive shit, plane to lose alot of wiegh and never eat or sleep. That is the worse shit they ever came out with and I dont see how doctors should be allowed to give that crap to kids. but I guess when kids act up doping them up on crank is the only way to go....

adderral

That stuff sux!! I took it and felt like I was on drugs the whole time. it made me grit my teeth like I was on X or something. Not good. Now I am drug free. And more into fitness.. I almost died from Crystal Meth and decided to call it quits.

Last I checked adderall was a drug so that explains why it felt like you were on drugs.

Gritting teeth is a common side effect for taking too high of a dose but the right dose makes adderall perfect for school and many other things.

andy, i've had a prescription to both ritalin and now adderal. Everyone says you can become addicted to it but i highly doubt.

First thing first: it helps out with studying ALOT, its almost as you get into it, and REALLY enjoy what your doing. I pulled a 3.9 last semester thanks to that shit, even while living at a frat house. It gives you the ABILITY to sit there for hours and hours and study. It won't give you any motivation though, if you want it then you'll be able to, but you really gotta wanna be there and study.

Here's the reason that i don't think it's possible to get addicted to it, after the initial month of it making me feel good, it did the opposite there on. It makes my mouth taste like crap, kills my sex drive (even while on test) probably due to the fact that my mouth tastes like shit. I get REAL moody when it wears off, I have to take G on the days that i take that crap do become normal again. It also makes me.....boring! For the most part i don't want to talk, but when i get started i just ramble on and on. I get prescribed 2 20mg adderals a day, and i only take maybe 2-3 a week. Enough to get my work done. If you can get them, then do. They are the best thing a college student can have. It's kinda like steroids but for the mind. If you take G, it's also great because it lets you get REAL fuct up off G and not pass out, kinda like getting really drunk with no side effects. Anyway, i'm rambling cause i took one of those fuckers tonight...if you get any questions email me bro.

sorry hardtime the shit is crap..ya maybe you get a couple good hours of study but its an amphetamine, and has all side effects of any other amphetamines, it is the worst thing you can try to take when trying to get gains...

Why not try Deprenyl instead? I hear that it has an impressive track record. Also add at least 200mg a day of Ginkgo Biloba... and maybe some DMAE or choline..

SELEGILINE (l-deprenyl)
A recent New York study showed that smokers had on average 40% less of the enzyme, monoamine oxidase type-B, in their brains than non-smokers. Levels returned to normal on their giving up smoking. Not merely is the extra dopamine in the synapses rewarding. The level of MAO-b inhibition smokers enjoy apparently contributes to their reduced incidence of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Unfortunately they are liable to die horribly and prematurely of other diseases first.

One option which the dopamine-craving nicotine addict might wish to explore is switching to the (relatively) selective MAO-b inhibitor selegiline, better known as l-deprenyl. Normally the brain's irreplaceable complement of 30-40 thousand odd dopaminergic cells tends to die off at around 13% per decade in adult life. Their death diminishes the quality and intensity of experience. It also saps what in more ontologically innocent times might have been called one's life-force. Eighty percent loss of dopamine neurons results in Parkinson's disease, often prefigured by depression. Deprenyl has an anti-oxidant , immune-system-boosting and dopamine-cell-sparing effect. Its use boosts levels of tyrosine hydroxylase, growth hormone, superoxide dismutase and the production of key interleukins. Deprenyl offers protection against DNA damage and oxidative stress by hydroxyl and peroxyl radical trapping; and against excitotoxic damage from glutamate.

Whatever the full explanation, deprenyl-driven MAOI-users, unlike cigarette smokers, are likely to be around to enjoy its distinctive benefits for a long time to come, possibly longer than their drug-naïve contemporaries. For in low doses, deprenyl enhances life-expectancy, of rats at least, by 20% and more. It enhances drive, libido and motivation; sharpens cognitive performance both subjectively and on a range of objective tests; serves as a useful adjunct in the palliative treatment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease; and makes you feel good too. It is used successfully to treat canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) in dogs. At dosages of below 10-15 mg daily, deprenyl retains its selectivity for the type-B MAO iso-enzyme. At MAO-B-selective dosages, deprenyl doesn't provoke the "cheese-effect"; tyramine is also broken down by MAO type-A. Deprenyl isn't addictive, which probably reflects its different delivery-mechanism and delayed reward compared to inhaled tobacco smoke. Whether the Government would welcome the billions of pounds of lost revenue and a swollen population of energetic non-taxpayers that a switch in people's MAOI habits might entail is unclear.

ACTUALLY - I am looking for a source of deprenyl in the UK (or one that will ship here).. anyone?

Adderall is way better than ritalin. It hass less of a crash and less rebound. It is the number #1 prescribed stimulant on the market, casue it simply works better. They have out a new 12 hour Adderall that is smoother and works even better. It is called Adderall XR.

adderall is awesome for studying. if u feel like you're fucked up on it then you're an idiot and you took too much! it's the only drug that makes me want to read and do homework. also if im really drunk, it seems to straighten me up. definately not as speedy as x. i mean yea, sure if you take like over 100mgs, but if you do that then you're a retard. unless, of course, getting fucked up was your intention.

Thanks for all the responses.

Thanks for taking the time to post those abstracts, Gary.

I'm way to curious to give up on it now. I'm just going to do some research of Ritalin vs adderall.

On and Gary, I have used Gingko and Dmae. It's in Powerdrive by Biotest. It does work to give you better workouts and it make you feel good, but I'm looking for something much stronger.

Hardtime, I might email you soon with some questions...

If anyone has anything else to add, please do.

ritalin

Is good stuff. It is definitely good for concentration and study. Certain people like it very much, and it is not addictive to certain people either. Certain people don't crave ritalin like certain people do other stuff. Certain people don't smoke cigarettes ever, unless certain people have some ritalin, and then certain people smash the pills and snort them while smoking cigs, and then it gives certain people a very funny/talkative attitude. Certain people recommend not driving even though certain people feel like they are ok with driving on excessive amounts of ritalin. Certain people recommend not lifting weights while on R for the same reasons mentioned above.
