anyone use propecia?

no.

if youv'e lost it -> www.newhair.com

propecia/proscar only serves to help conserve what u go. there are some shampoo's etc tho that may help regrow some hair.

Use google or search, for more thorough answers

Used it, didnt notice any difference when I stopped even when running some scary androgens for months.

If you're super-prone to MPB then it might be worth a try, but it seems to me to be a bandaid for for hair :p

seems to have slowed my hair loss to a crawl

that happened to me too

I have ton of firneds that use it - Its only for receding hair. Crown balding can be helped by topical treatments - I understand that it doenst work for everyone but my friends who have used went from really bad to barely noticeable - Not sure of interaction or other supplements though

What do you mean"From really bad to barely noticable"? It grew back hair? I've always thought of it as a supp to slow down the receding process.

I think Propecia is a 5 mg dose for prostate enlarged patients. Proscar is the supp to take for hairloss. It's a smaller dose but the same supp. To save some money, people buy the Propecia and cut it into 4 pieces and use it that way.

I could be wrong with the names, because I have'nt read up on this in a while. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, and ANSWER! the question, please.

No - One my friend ESPEC it was so thin and really grown back - He was about 21 when first took now 25 and still does everyday - He told me recently its now about $70 a month

Generic brands about $70/year... I don't have the sites handy. Fincar is the name.

$70/year? Good lord that is cheap. I should be on this now. I've noticed slight receding of my hairline (I have a widow's peak), I was planning on starting something in a couple years when I get out of college and can afford it but if it's only 70/year I can do that now.

recommended dose of fincar is 5 mg per day. that's 5 mg of finasteride per day.

it works out to about about $1/day based off some sites from google.

found more info, looks like you are right, GL:

The dose of finasteride will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average dose of finasteride. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so:

* For oral dosage form (tablets):
o For treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH):
+ Adults—5 milligrams (mg) once a day.
o For hair growth:
+ Adults—1 mg once a day.

Didn't do much for me. I'm just destined to be a Q-ball for life. Luckily I have generations of male pattern baldness to have given me a perfectly shaped head.

isn't male pattern baldness just the dome though? I thought receding hairline was different.

did you try any drugs specifcally for MPB?

I tried the propecia and it didn't do anything. I've been shaving my head for years now. I tried avacor a while back, but it made my head break out. I'll take being a suave vin diesel looking muthafucka over a pizza head any day of the week. At this point it isn't important to me. If they find a miracle cure, absolutely. I'd rather they spent the money on prostate cancer or heart disease research to be honest.

It's better to start it early and to STICK WITH IT FOREVER. If you stop, it'll just start shedding again.

This is a regimen that I've seen time and time again after a lot of reading. I did this a while back but stopped for reasons I won't get into...

#1 Finasteride 1mg day or 1.25 if you break the 5 mg tab into 4 pieces.

#2 Nizorol shampoo alternated with

#3 Inner shampoo ... The Inner shampoo has polysorbate 80 which is the ingredient you want for your hair. There are'nt too many shampoos that have this... there is also Nioxin shampoo which I'm using now that has polysorbate 80 in it.

#4 Spirolactin (spiro) Which is a cream you apply to the scalp on the balding thinning areas that help strengthen/regrow hair.

#5 Rogain or Minoxadil (sp?) This is for the top/center (bald spot) of the scalp to help regrow hair. It's not supposed to work on the temples but people have reported results there.

Is it worth it for you to have hair? If you start this, don't stop.

If I had my hair back, I would do this to not lose it. I'm so far gone that I only do the finasteride and Nioxin shampoo now just for the hell of it.

I recommend the 4 steps up top if you have hair and are losing it.
do it.
