The active ingredient(forget what it is) concentrations of the stuff sent to the U.S. is too weak to get the full effect. If you want the real deal either travel or fork over hundreds of $$$ to get a hich concentrated bottle sent to you. Even that from what I hear is not that great.

I was just over in Amsterdam on a cruise and my friend and I went into a liquor store in the red light district and bought a bottle of absinthe. It was green and it was the real deal, as the salesman told us. I forgot how much the bottle was, somewhere in the 25-35 range I think? Anyways, it tastes like absolute SHIT, even when poured over sugar cubes like yur "sposed" to do. I had to chase it immediately after I drank it to prevent the disgusting flavor. Anyways I only had like 1.5 shots b/c I was scared to get too fucked up on the ship so I didn't have any halucinations, got a bit buzzed though.

Reasonably disappointing. Took some mad $hit when I was in China a few years ago and was ACTUALLY Blind drunk. Went looking for the bus to the Great Wall of China but couldn't find the door to get out of the Bar!
