? any threads could be closed for any one reason. Our karmic church thread was closed du to a few stupoid post. It wasn't a "K" thread only a thread for our new group. Which was suggested we start a group. I was upset with the closure.

Because I don't work for EF. I work for the ISP. He asked my boss to assign someone to the site who could do the regular Unix admin stuff, a little development on the side (which none of the other admins here would touch with a ten-foot pole; I'm an old-school generalist), and who would get involved. He wanted someone who cared, took it personally when there was downtime or anything that reflected badly on the site. He got him: Me. We've been through a minor upgrade, a complete redesign, and another major upgrade, and I now know this place like Scotty knows the Enterprise. George is getting a steal because he's not paying salary, only time and materials, and the hours are being woefully underreported (shhhhh).

I spent eight months or so up my elbows in the code before I ever posted -- and George started teasing me about it. He wanted me to post more. People saw "admin" under my name and started asking me to do the usual board admin things, and eventually I gave in and opened the admin panel. And George said "GOOD! Do MORE of that!" We're now WAY past what he's paying the ISP for, and Mrs. Digger is royally pissed at how much of my time it's taking... but that's what communities do. They suck you in, and become part of you as you become part of them.

And then we had that outbreak of Mad Cow among the old mods.... Nasty business, and I was damned if I was going to let them undo all the hard work I put into this place. Anything else you want to know?
