Anyone know how much would it cost to replace a broken laptop screen?

My brother's laptop fell on the floor and the glass inside of it shattered. It's one of those laptops with high definition looking screens. Toshiba 15 inch monitor.

I'm assuming warranty wouldn't cover something like this.

Yup, you break might as well get a new computer.
I was issued a laptop that cost 1000$ and was brand spanking new, I was reading in bed and I rolled over with my elbow and broke the screen.
So I had it replace the screen, I thought about buying it and just using at home as a second computer and add just a larger monitor and use it like a normal computer.
But all in all, I paid 750$ they fixed it and that was that.

haha its a toshiba? funny thing is that same shit happened to my toshiba sattelite i sent it in to toshiba to get it fixed and they told me it wasn't working upon arrival .. so it either broke in shipping or they really fucked it up when trying to fix it.. anyhow toshiba has had like 3000 complaints to the better business bureau in the last year about how shitty their warranty stuff is.. there are some sites online you can send in your laptop and they will fix it for like 395. i'd try one of those if i was you.. these people who are telling you to buy a new laptop must have been living in a box for the last 11 years..

yea it's toshiba and the screen is shattered pretty good, even the windows wont start up. I tried switching hard drives and that didnt work either.

I went out to this laptop repair shop and said they would fix it for around 600 bucks. Since the model is brand new it would be hard to get parts for it, I myself definetly can't find shit. I cant even get windows started.

on a flip side I took the 512mb of ram that it came with and put it in mine. So now I have a gig of ram and my laptop is flying computer. I wonder what 2 gigs would look like.

As others have mentioned, you're basically fucked.

You've got to rely on the warranty, failing that you will buy another laptop.

By chance, how did the laptop manage to "fall on the floor"?

Did it fall on it's own or was it pushed?

you know, home and contents insurance usually covers things like this

i have an idiot family member who tipped over an entire entertainment cabinet, and got paid out for all of it. read your policy

actually my brother called the place where he got it from and they will go ahead and take it back

that's fucked up, but he's gettin a same one in return.
