Our hot water is vamoose. Im sick of waiting for the maintenace to get here (apartment i live in). This happened about 2 weeks ago, and the dude said something about the thermostat, it took him maybe 1 minute to fix, and said our hot water would be back in 30 mins. Anyone able to piece together these clues and tell me how to get this bitch working. Im dirty as hell. Dirtier than usual.

mine exploded and soaked my apartment. count yourself lucky.

i could help you, but i need more information? does it start out hot then fade, or does it even begin hot? You know anything else about what the guy did last week? The thermostat could be hung?

never is hot. cold as crap. hot go bye bye. Im not much sure else what he did other than what he said. He was in and out though and it was working in no time. So it seemed pretty simple.

It is most likely the Thermostat, and I hope it's electric.....Turn breaker off, turn off water at the heater, place hose at the drain valve(looks like a water spigot), open pressure relief valve, and let drain....

Down at the bottom, there is a plate, remove, and the thermostat is a coil shaped object....write down make and model number of thermostat, grab one at Lowes(around 10 to 15$)....Replace, remove hose, close pressure valve, turn back on water, let the tank fill, then turn breaker back on....you're done!!!

Simple.....Unless it has an upper thermostat as well...generally it's the lower due to sediment and other objects....always check breaker first....<wink>

yep, ranger is probably right, take it to your lowes, if you have any questions about install they should be able to help you, not making a huge puddle of water is the only hard part

ranger you should give this same advice next time in the form of a poem

slickdadd let me know if you actually try what he suggested. i'm willing to bet you read his post and a "fucccccccccccck that" immediately followed, and then you went back to playing "Sinking Submarine" in your cold water bubble bath with the shower on.

lol. yeah brogan, that involves a lot of work. i'll just wait for stereotypical maintenance guy who drives a beat up mid 80s model chevrolet sedan with a ponch gut and gagworthy hairdo to come take care of it. Then it's Sinking Submarine for two.
