Key scratches usually aren't that expensive because they don't go that deep. Post a picture like you said to give us a better look.

That shit pisses me off.

I used to lifeguard at swimming pool about 8 years ago. Anyway this fat fuck carved DV WS in the side of my truck. Luckily it buffed out.

It'll cost about $10 for the body shop. It'll cost you between $75 to $300 to fix.

Huh? My hubby has bought paint that costs over $200.00 per PINT!

Not an easy process if you want the job done right....

Chances are the shop will not have to special order a unit of exotic paint for this guy's car. It is more likely that they have what they need on hand, the given paint is common and fairly cheap, and they will only need to use very little of it. Therefore, in terms of materials alone, a shop can do the job much cheaper than you could at home.

A few key scratches don't take much paint. The prep is the most time consuming part of the job - an experienced body man can prep a few key scratches in no time. The primer and painting hardly take any time at all. In between the steps the worker can busy himself with other cars, but I'll admit that, when pay is factored in, it would probably cost the shop more than $10. (Not much more.)

For an experienced body man, the process may be done with the highest quality in his sleep.

car being keyed is worse than door dings IMO especially if it's bad or multiple panels, at least a door ding or crease you could call the dent wizard and pay $50-75 and get it out.

Depending how deep the scratch is why don't you just go by some of that miracle polish shit that buffs out the scratch and colors it. GS27 or something? It won't take away the damage if its bad, but if it's a minor keying that's another story, we've all seen the commercial of the person repeatedly missing the key whole and scratching it up and how the polish brings it back to better than show room floor new. Nuff said.
