Any of you guys had highlights ?
I was thinking to try it out for a change..I dont mean bleaching but highlights done by a pro hairdreaser....Any potential damage for the hair.....

my best friend has them most of the time. maybe to cover his gray . . . who knows?

But i don't think there's any damage.

Hmmm. Well, I once shaved my head while overseas, and then peroxided the Unholy Hell out of it while it was growing it. It was a blazing gold color. Then, I let it grow in for the remainder naturally, and I ended up with just about the coolest hair coloration and style I've ever been privy to witness. People would stop me here, too, when I returned, and give me compliments out of the blue. It was really cool.

Damage shmamage. I should do that again, man. As for salon-style treatments- I ain't gotz no klew, y0!

You can go to the salon and have a good professional job done or you can buy one of those kits and have someone help ya with it or try it yourself. If your hair is healthy, you won't have a problem with damage. If you get the kit, just follow the instructions and it shouldn't be too difficult. I've used them and had good results. If you hair is really dark though, it may not come out as light as you'd like and going to the salon will be easier and faster.

I have brown hair but I have never had highlights on my hair and i was thinking to give it a try...

I dont want to bleach my hair all the way but just some highlights to blend with my brown hair...how long a highlight job will last...I just wanna stress out that I am not reffering to a total bleaching...

Highlights are permanent and will last as long as you don't cut them out. Highlighting is an art...if you're creative you can probably do it fine without even needing to follow the directions in regards to where to apply it in your hair, but follow the directions closely for the mixing and amount of time to leave it on.

Puddles is right.. :)

But if you do it yourself at home have someone to help you
so you can get it even all throughout your hair.

I use to work at a salon. It was done with foil.. But now
the kits they have at stores make it a lot eaiser to use.
But read instructions!!!!! And leave on the time it tells you to
or the color may not come out as you planned.

I bought one of the kits this semester and had one of my friends help me with it. I've got dark blonde/light brown hair. I used to have really light blonde hair until it just kept getting darker. I had really good results with the highlights. It's definitely a thought.

I was thinking of dying my hair blonde,I have brown w/ grey.

I'm told I'm starting to act like a blonde so I figure I'll go with the flow;)

get it done professionally. I have had it done that way and have done it myself. The stuff in the OTC packages really damages your hair. It makes it feel like straw. Your best bet would be to find someone you know who is a stylist who can do it. Instead of paying $50 for it... you might pay like $10 or $15 if they could hook you up. My sis does it. Cost me $5 :)

it's only gay because you are bald and can't highlight a comb over

Nope, full head of hair. No desire to look queer is my reason.
