Anyone here stretch

I dont mean for a couple of minutes before a workout, but seriously stretch.

Are there advantages/disadvantages if one does with respect to building muscle?
 
stretching helps loosen the fascia surrounding the muscle. a tight fascia can actually hinder muscle growth. The looser the fascia the easier the muscle can expand with proper training and diet.

it is like blowing up a balloon. If you stretch the balloon some before blowing it up, it is much easier right?
 
I have to stretch everyday, I have tight hammy's that can be pulled with something as simple as kicking a soccer ball.

I stretch a little in the morning and before bed. Legs, calves, shoulders, back, hands.
 
I stretch before and after every workout. Chest, neck, and side twists mostly. My posture suffers and I get the worst knots if I don't. Plus I have a much better ROM when I do.

the stretching... works better... in the long run... rather that just right before you workout..... the muscles become looser and get use to being stretched....
and will keep them from being as tight... helps blood flow and lots of things...
AAP is right on... .. I do mine when i wake up.. and sometimes at night...
 
I do full body stretches about twice a week. My legs and back I try to do every day, but that doesn't always happen.

I stretch my back and legs after I work them. I'll also stretch my pecs by doing some sort of fly and really stretching them at the bottom. I used to stretch between sets, but thats too much work :)

I though it was bad to stretch a cold muscle?
 
I never stretch...
I should cuz I am extremely inflexible....I can't even touch my toes.
 
i rool around on the big ball and look in the mirros for giggles at the gym.. does this count

Do you seriously get some good luck with pilates Shadow? I never thought about that, but the girlfriend does that stuff all the time. Me i have stretches from my orthopedist but they kinda suck. They gave em to me when i broke my back, but spending 3 years in a wheelchair i didn't find anything that helped me at all. I'm gonna give pilates a spin for giggles. can't hurt i guess
 
Streching before workouts can actually weaken the muscle, so let the weight stretch you!

Morning and evening stretching is good, post-workout streaching > All.

I don't stretch enough ... ><

I was using those staprs for most of the positions


...I used em for the pilates as well

fuck it i'm throwin in one of the GF's DVD's and seeing this stuff now. I hope i don't get my ass kicked by a pilates DVD, but i spose it could be worse LOL

what kind of straps do you use in this? where can I find a routine of this to try?

get a sdtarted kit that has the bricks and the strap
 
Depends..the advanced deal with the ab work is 40 minutes or so....



it probably a better stress buster than weights for me....

i only stretch when im in a singlet somewhere, and someone walks past ;)

as for in the gym, no, i dont, nor do i really warm up

of course, living in the tropics kind of takes away the need to...

Well, I pull on it and it gets longer, does that count as stretching?
