I used to work for H&R Block as an investement company rep and at the time I used to have a life & health insurance license and security license series 6 and series 63.

IT has been more than a year since I quit and chose another path but now I have a chance to rejoin the company as my licenses are still current and all I need to do now is to take the series 7 in order to become a registered rep ..

Anyone has series 7? How tough is the exam?

Ive heard its a mother.

It is an 8 hour exam with a break after 4 hours and it is passable if you study.

if you passed your 6 and ins. test and study for the 7, you should be able to do it

i took the 6 and 63 (what a joke) but never the 7. I've got a couple friends with the 7 and that's what they told me anyways. I'm taking the CPA and CMA exams next spring

It's a 6 hour exam broken into 2 parts. Each is three hours with a break in between. The 7 is only a few more topics than the 6, you should have no problem. Go take a course if you can and pay attention, STC is one of the best. Use their practice tests and treat them like the bible. Take the tests open book first and then closed book. There are 13 practice exams if i can remember correctly. Get atleast a 71 and youll be fine.'

The test is timed but you can go back and check answers your mark. You are on camera so dont cheat, they will see you. Anything else just ask.

Its not that bad, I had more trouble with the 66...maybe cause I didnt study for that though.

Series 66 was a short and easy one..50 questions if I correctly recall..

Are 250 questions for series 7?

I hate to study again ...

Did you take 65 too? Is it tough?

SERIES 65 LICENSE is for Registered Investment Adviser

The Series 65 exam is required by many states for individuals that act as Investment Advisers.

When I used to work for H&R Block, my manager had to take the series 65 and he said that it wasnt too tough..

If you get the oppertunity, take the 66 instead of the 65. The 66 covers the 65 and the 63. One less test to take.
I didnt need to take a 65 because I had a 66.

250 Questions plus some testing questions thrown in there. They dont count but you wont know which they are which can make you get nervous and confused if you dont know the answers.

I passed all my tests on the first try.

IT has been a while, but I think there are 250 questions and you need 70% in order to pass.

study hard - it's tough.

i studied almost every night for 3 months. i was a political science major, so i didn't have the financial background to help me out. my boyfriend has a finance degree and studied far less.

he passed with a 72, i think - i scored in the 80s - :D

your score is posted about 5 minutes after you're finished with the test. those were the longest five mintutes! i thought my heart was going to pound right out of my chest.

you think i got drunk that night?

It was a 6 hour test when i took it 18 years ago.

BTW I used to have series 27 and a 24 license as well. That 27 is a mother of a test. Or was back then....

How was Wall St?

A good learning experience in the 80's and we had some fun but it was a little too cut-throat and full of attitude, I like a more laid back kind of atmosphere.
