Anyone ever work as a security guard?

I was thinking that concert security would be a good part time job.

I work full time 9-5 M-F but figured I could work a couple concerts per week.

Anyone have any experience with this?

You're talking to the security guard king here. You get a job in that industry, as long as you keep your nose clean, you''ll always have a job. Just don't let people piss you off and cause you to do something stupid. They will try you.

Yeah, I did it from 17-19 and it was a blast. Crowd control for events. Didnt pay jack at the time but it was awesome b/c I went to alot of cool events, like working events like some football games, lots of concerts like the grateful dead, used to work at this 4000person concert hall and I met all the bands afterwards downstairs for the after party. Got stoned with the red hot chili peppers, like just ten of us in the room. We went down there to fill our jackets with the coronas and wolf down some of the catered food trays, then Anthony goes what are you guys doing? What some of this? Pretty cool. THe best part that makes it worthwhile is the access to everything thats going on walking around with all access like youre sposed to be there. Like youre working and you are.
I kept a couple of the jackets and walked through security at some events later so I didnt have to pay money to get in. Then my friend used the jacket to walk around the field during a USC game and so I did too to have some fun. People were asking where they should go with their tix and so Id point them in any direction, had no clue. ANyhow my frat buddy decided to take another lap around the field. Next thing we see is him being cuffed and stuffed LOL, There went the last jacket. I heard that they bring that up b/c he said he found the jacket and they use that as an example of never taking off the jacket in their training. Its basically anyone who shows up gets a job b/c sometimes they need like 50-100 people for huge events like the three day grateful dead concert. We just worked four hours per day, the rest we just partied as it was like a small town gathered around the stadium and we still had full access badges so we were hammered going into restricted sections.
If I were you, I would do it if you have time. So much fun. Like I said, no money in it, but you get a lil bit and you go to the event for free. So worth it.

i contacted the local event security place here... $7 a hour.. FUCK THAT

I knew it wasn't going to be much, but for it to be worth my time i need at least $10-15 an hour... fuck I pay my MAID $20 an hour to clean my place...

It's much more fun, exciting and probably even more pay -- being a bouncer, or door security at a higher-class club or restaurant.

Security guards is numbnuts work. They'll hire anybody -- hence with no skills required -- the pay reflects it as well.

Your time is worth more than that bro.

ive got no experience as a doorman or bouncer or anything.. plus I'm 6'2" 210-215.. not that huge..

We had women and scrawny lil dweebs working so youre plenty big enough. Hardly anything goes down that you really need to get physical except at certain events and when it does happen its just like a swarm of people on the person.

Most people chill out when like five security guards approach them and tell them that if they dont settle down then we'll toss them, that was actually pretty fun tossing assholes out the door.

Its definitely not about the money but the access you get, youre just a body really to wear a jacket and if something does happen youre allowed to pigpile on someone. Its pretty fun job and you get to go to events where you couldnt get good seats or some shite and then you can basically walk around with an all access pass.

If youre looking for a job to make some extra cash then crowd management is definitely not it.

I've never been good enough with people to do that.
I'll punch a mouthy girl in the face, I just don't have the temperament.

what's up huck, how are things going in the personal life?

My weightlifting coach was a security guard at a hospital. Dude was at least 50 and was amazingly strong, didnt know shit though, all he did was bench.

that would be cool. i dont think i have the temperament though

It's all about how you deal with people, what you look like and if you can do your job in the cleanest way. Clubs no longer need huge, untrained mofos. I'd give it a try, if that's really what you're looking for.
