Anyone ever start their own Computer business?

Just wondering if anyone here has started up any type of computer related business? What kind of experience did you have before you started up, what kind planning did you put into your business plan. What kind of advice can you give someone exploring the idea of starting their own business? What kind of ups and downs did you experience?

Computer consulting service - starting up was a bitch, the biggest cost of any company when you first start is advertising, getting your name out there. That's the most important thing. If you got a 100k budget, spend half on advertising and budget the rest into the equipment, rent, etc...

Also, make sure you keep tabs on competitors and do anything you can to get them away or out of your business. Undercut them by 50% and make sure their customers know about you.

Well have enough experience to pull off the job that you're doing, and do it well.

Two things: Concentrate on making sure you can do the services you plan on offering and do it well.

Then concentrate on how you are going to get WORD of what you are doing, to the customers (the marketing).

fortunately, you can test the waters and go into business w/o too much of a risk (like loans, rents, etc.).
