Anyone Ever Get a Postcard from the Postal Inspector??

Hey my buddy just got a postcard from the US Postal Inspector that said:

John Doe please call Inspector Smith concerning your package from California. Thank you.

(names changed to protect the innocent)

Anyone ever received anything like this b4? What advice should I give him? It was only a bottle of Deca.

Thanks

Holy shit. i've never heard of anything like that before. i'd just
go down there and see what was up. They can't bust him, cause
there's no proof that he knows what's in the package.

Bump for someone else.

It didnt say anything about turning himself in... all it said was to call the listed postal inspector. And it wasnt a postcard saying "Welcome to Sunny State of Florida" it was a US Postal Inspector card.

Im gonna tell him to call tomorrow and say he wasnt expecting a package from California. Ill let ya know what happens.

Ho shit bro, the US Postal Inspectors are federal police. This could be bad, please keep us posted.

I don't want to come off like an ass but as an attorney I have to say that the advice like "go check it out, there is no proof he knows what is is", is really bad.

Proof comes in many forms, and you would be surprised how little it can take to get a conviction in some cases.

Also, the postal inspector is not to be fucked with. I used to represent people that got in trouble with them. The federal sentencing guidlines are very tough and using the US mail to transport contraband is generally frowned on by the federal government.

If your boy does call, and I probably wouldn't, I agree, just say he wasn't expecting anything from California and has no idea what it might be. And DO NOT pick it up under any circumstances.

Yes, the Trevdog is correct. If this is true, you don't screw around with the Postal Inspectors....clean house, deny, deny ,deny.
I have not heard of them writing to you ahead of time and giving you a warning......they set you up on delivery and just bust your ass....I see them at the courthouse getting warrants from time to time.

just ignore them and if they come to your house just tell them you dont know what theyre talking about and kindly ask them to leave.
