Anyone ever been HIV tested?

I decided to get a test done.. it had been a while (over 3 months) since I had slept with anyone.. and it has been over a year since I have had unprotected sex with anyone...

So I go to a local planned parenthood to et a quick test done.. I also get a urine sample taken to check for any other STDs... I don't have any symptoms or anything but I figured why not just do the whole gambit...

So I get the results and and I was 99.99999999999999999% sure I was clean but there is no way to be completely relaxed in the split second between the time they sit you down and the time they read you those results..

So yeah.. clean all around.. kinda makes me not wanna sleep with anyone for a long time... like I've been able to be with a few up and until this point and I am clean.. but you never know when you might be with the wrong person..

My doc made me get some blood work done last week before I started accutane. The whole 9 yards...liver values, testosterone level, white cell count. An AIDS test (and general STD test) was part of it too.

Anyway, I'm good to go.

He told me he'll print out the results so I can hang them by my bed. That bastard.

I got one done by my doctor like 6 years ago. I had never had unprotected sex and only had sex with women, so I was not al that worried about it and it was kind of no big deal.

I got my second one just like a month and half ago and it was so nerve racking. I have never had unprotected sex but I was still freaked out. I hated the process; it took a week for me to get my results back. When I went to get them, they brought me into the back room and I was shitting my pants because we would they have to bring you in the back room to tell you, you are negative. They can tell you in the front room that you are negative. So, from the walk from the front room to the back room I was convinced I was HIV positive. As it turns out, I am NEGATIVE I have never had unprotected sex. I do not know why I was so nervous but I just was.

I lectured on safe sex, birth control, and HIV testing in college-- so every time the college had free testing, I did it. I've always had mouth swab HIV tests. Never been worried about the results, but I'm glad I've had them just for the hell of it.

odd... i just got a bloodtest before taking accutane... which left me with permenant scars... grrr

Yes. I just got my results back today and it was negative. It had started hanging over my head more and more, and now that I got the test and I'm OK, things are feeling soooo much better.

I went in this morning and the receptionist handed me my results from my chart- so I get out to my truck and look at the date and realize that that was last year's test results. So I had to go back in and get the receptionist (whom I went to high school with ) to call my doctor's nurse. She waved me back with a worried expression on her face, and I was like, "Oh, great, this figures." Then she shows me the paper and I was negative.

It's weird, but both my doctor and the nurse acted like it was almost strange to get tested unless I had specific reasons to think I might me infected. They never said that, but that was the vibe I got. I was born in 1980- I grew up with all those posters on the wall from elementary on up and all those public service announcements on TV. They've done their job- I'm scared shitless.

But damn, am I glad I checked out OK.
