i have an offer for an entry level job, this will be first one out of college for entry level securities analyst. I also am in talks in another area and that is banking. I feel i will have an offer from the bank soon. I am trying to decide between lots of hours and good experience in a analyst job, or take a bank job 40 hours a week and be involved with some community activities. Kind of confused man and i dont know why, Both fields interest me. The analyst job has 300 hours overtime a year roughly, and it is hourly to start out. If i got into banking i want to eventually end up in commercial but that may be years and years out.. i dont know.. im flustered. lol. I graduated in finance.

Depends on what level of comfort you need financially versus how much time you want to be able to spend with your family/social life. If you are a young single guy with no attachments and all you want to do is make the big bucks then take the analyst job with OT. Both jobs sound solid, but if it was me I would go with the banking job since it sounds like it will give you more time for other things in your life. We never get back time in our life.

yeah ive been involved with coaching HS football last couple years, i played div 1 college ball and had stints with the nfl but never made an active team. I enjoy giving back and helping out the kids... i just not 100% sure yet.

I would say take the analyst job, start building a career then do the community thing when you hit 30.

go with the analysist job. You can stick it out for a couple of years and than get into something like corporate finance or commercial banking and have a cushy office job with much less hours than you did at the anaylsist position.

analysts are in general a really fucked up position these days. You don't analyze so much as you market, and by market i mean mask your analysis and honest opinion.
