Somebody?

I need a link to *the* cheat sheet on how to mess with the firmware. I've been surfing google and can't find the definitive answer.

nevermind.

where did you get the correct one? i thought it's only the old ones.

Not sure - I need to check the box - serial number/code should show what version it is.

I heard the local Gamestop might get some tomorrow.

BX also said they might have some next week.... they got in a few controllers the other day. I snapped up a pair.

did you figure out how to do it? i will definitely get one if it can be done easily.

hell, i already have a shitload of roms.

you know what you could do once it flashed/chiped/whatever? get one of those super small and slim external HD's, pack it full of roms, and have your kid hook it up to that via USB to play a whole assortment of games.

i know it sounds inconvenient to lug around something like an external hd, but i have seen some incredibly small ones. plus, it would be cool for long car rides or whatever.

60 gigs is always better than 2.

I will pull his PSP present down from the attic tonight - I'll check and see what version it is and go from there. The local Gamestop also sells used ones - I might check there to see if there are any good firmware version ones.

Today I did a hunt for Wii - no luck on that front.

see, i honestly know very little about the psp scene. if the thing can be unlocked via software, why are they selling mod chips?

Depends on the motherboard version and what firmware you have loaded. Some can be softmodded, some can't. Plus, there is a lot of activity going into hacking the shit out of that thing.

in fact, now that i think about it, i am really bothered by this.

it is a sad day when i dont know how to do something to play/install all of my backups of legally purchased things. it's very sad, actually.

Noted, slacker.

1 GB right now... prolly gonna get a 2 GB

Enough to fit most games, especially if compressing the ISO

do you like it better than the DS? my gf has a ds and it has some pretty fun games on it.

we have that shit hooked up with a slot1 card.

are you really considering getting one for yourself? i need to make sure i'm not acting like a kid by buying one. :)

Oh yeah, probably get one next week or so.

It would be perfect for long flights where I'm sitting in the instructor seat getting dudes re-current for flying. I can put a couple of full length movies on there, along with a couple of games to play. It's small enough to flight in a flight suit pocket.

There are emulators for everything out there - PSx games just came online... so yeah, I like it a lot.

Major head pain figuring out how to get it hacked. Finally got it all working last night about 0230.

The wifi cape is nice - I can stream video to it in the house.

are you going to be around on AIM in case i have questions?

Ha... I don't even have that loaded up right now.

Big picture - make sure you look at the box the PSP comes in last letter shouldn't be higher than "K".

That indicates 2.71 firmware on a TO82 mother board. That's that latest version that can be downgraded to the magic firmware that allows all kind of goodness to be run.

Cool.

The 2.71->1.5 downgrader works well. I then upgraded to 3.02 OE-B

Threw Devhook on and some emulators - still messing with the emulators right now. Some roms are throwing errors at me. Won't have my hands back on the machine tonight until the midget is in bed.

i am in an IRC channel right now, and these guys are great. they are walking me through it step by step.

i was hoping you did...my ratio suffered awhile back and they banned my old, old ip address.

i need back on. there is another site....let me check my oink inbox. someone told me about it.

you can get a bunch on demonoid too....i have some invites there if needed.

jnuts, the other place is called pleasuredome.

UG is really sweet, though. i picked up close to a terabyte there.

Demenoid has ben sucking ass lately.

They had a few offered on the bitmetv forums. I sent PMs to see if I can get an invite.

I was up all night last night.

My son loves Mario so I'm trying to get those kinds of games on there.

OE-B works great playing ps1 games. however, some of the games that are multi-disc (like final fantasy) require a hex-editing so it saves correctly.

you can either download a iso that has already been hex-edited, or you can wait a few days for a program to be written that will do it for you automatically.
