Anybody getting a playstation 3????

I guess it is worth it if you figure the price for a HD DVD player alone is $500.00.

But by the time you buy everything to make it "complete" extra controller,HD cables, a couple of games, etc, etc. you're looking at $1000.00 easy.

I'm waiting at least a year after it comes out til they tweak the inevitable hardware kinks...overheating/crashing will most likely be a big one. There's a lot of power in these new systems that simply isn't being tested long enough to ensure optimal performance (Blueray). I'd say around 1/4 + people will have hardware problems and be sending their machine in to get repaired.

happend to the x box 360 . my friend had to send his back 2ce ! but they gave him a free game and pad, for his troubles.

Exactly. Why get one at launch and go thru the bugs and issues.

My other worry is the upcoming HD dvd format wars. The whole Blue ray vs HD-DVD thing.

If you buy the ps3(Blue-Ray) and blue ray fails to dominate the market(which happened with betamax) you will be stuck with having to buy a seperate (microsoft) HD-DVD player anyway.

I'm happy with my old school Xbox and plus MK Armageddon is coming out in fall, so that alone will be plenty gaming til whenever Microsoft upgrades the 360's chipsets to run cooler. I think that was supposed to be early 2007...

Gears of War and Halo 3 will more than compete with any first wave Nintendo/Sony offerings. Some of Microsoft's other original titles due out this fall/winter look impressive too.
