Getting ready to do my first jump in two weeks I'm doing AFF (accelerated freefall) training. Basically you do a full 60 sec freefall from 12000 feet with two jumpmasters hanging on to you the whole time. Tandom and static line didnt look nearly as fun. I have a feeling, if i live, i'll prob be hooked. So anyone else into this shit?
I've only gone tandem. The company I've dived with doesn't allow anyone who has less than 10 jumps to jump alone. In other words, your first ten jumps MUST be tandem.
LOL; have fun. It is addicting, but don't worry it would be impossible for you to spin out of control with a jumpmaster on each side if they are doing their job, which they will be.
Make sure you go through your checklist and are aware of your position relative to the airport, etc. to make sure you pass level 1. A good arch and altitude awareness are the most things to get down for your first jump.
There's a skydiving place near my college.. A few years ago, couple friends did a tandem jump. A year later the instructor who had over a 100jumps landed to his death. Some reason his main chute didn't open and by the time his safety one did, it was too late.
