I've had mine pierced for about five years now. I didn't lisp for very long but I am a fast healer. I really don't care if people think it looks gay because I am very comfortable in my sexuality and my skin. After about a year you can take it out for day or so. Now I can take mine out for two or three days without the hole closing. And yes if you take it out permanently the hole will close up and leave a very little or no scar at all. Basically if you remove it only your dentist could tell that you ever had one.

No and No. Then again I don't typically bite down when I am lifting. Just like anything else there is an adjustment period that you have to endure. Now it feels more strange to me when I don't have it in than when I was getting used to first having it.

Now it feels more strange to me when I don't have it in than when I was getting used to first having it.

I am 27 now, so I have them in for quite a bit and what Scots says is true.

Although I do have mine stretched (8 gauge in the back, 10 gauge in front) so I can take mine out for 2 weeks at a time and still have the whole open.

as was mentioned, you can get plugs to put in it to "hide" it. also, you can get flesh colored acrylic balls to put on the ends or clear ones. they help as well.

and about the acrylic balls - i wore mostly acrylic balls on mine for the first 6 months. feels real smooth and lets you get used to having it in. if you bite on the acrylic ball, no biggie. worst that'll happen is you break it. have spares handy. breaking a $2 acrylic ball is a lot nicer than breaking a tooth. i never broke one myself, but they did have tooth marks in them.


and the placement of it in your tounge.....if you have it towards the tip, it's for licking kitty. if you have it near the back, it's cause you suck dick. where's yours gonna be?

I would agree with this- when I had my nipple rings in (i had em for about 6-7 years)- chicks loved it... I have a buddy who had toungue done, he says the chicks loved it too...

i tried real hard to eat solid food. i managed real soft stuff, but that was about it. hurt like hell, but when you gotta eat, you gotta eat. worst thing i did was ate spaghetti one night....the sucking down of spaghetti noodles hurt like hell. i was in tears because it was one of my home made sauces and i didn't want it to go to waste.

i'd say best to plan to NOT eat anything other than really soft foods for a week or two, that way you aren't in tears when you're trying to eat a big fat juicy steak but can't.

I too ate solid food within an hour after having my tongue pierced. I was playing with it in my mouth moments after getting it pierced. My piercer told me that most people experience a lenghty healing time and unnecessary swelling because they use products that contain alcohol, such as mouthwash. I used Amosan by Oral-B which is for oral injuries and had very little swelling. Amosan is a powder you dissolve in hot water (as hot as you can tolerate) and then you rinse your mouth with it. It has a very strong odor and doesn't taste the best but it works super good.
