Any magicians out there?

So we saw a magic trick once and wanted to see if anyone can explain it....

My buddy had this party, there are like 30-40 people in his place (a big loft with like 20ft high ceilings). Anyway, this guy is there doing some card tricks (think he was a friend of a friend, but can't remember who he came in with). Anyway, the last one he did, the old pick a card, shuffle, etc, he is going to show us the card... not this one, this one, goes through the whole deck. Anyway, he gets to the end and goes it is not this one is it- and points to the ceiling (they are 20ft, no joke, the walls are a good 10 ft and go not even halfway up). We are sitting around a table in the middle of the room. It was for sure never there before, and there is no way he could have put it up there since the party started- any suggestions.....?

No, no one was on any drugs at the time....

it was up there before... all card tricks like that are a matter of deck manipulation. It's pretty easy to control the location of a card even in a normal deck. Or it could have been a cut or svengali deck.

How are you sure the card wasn't there before?

He planted the card there before the party and then essentially forced someone to pick it. Blaine did a similar one where he was out on the street and the card that was picked ended up stuck on the inside of the window of the shop they were standing in front of. He plants the card before the trick and then forces the person involved to select that card.

I know the card manipulation is easy, we were trying to figure out how he got it up there...

Well that is the theory we all thought was most logical, except
1) No one had never ever seen the guy before.
2) We painted the place (including some spots on the ceiling wiht a long a$$ stick) when they moved in- it was NOT there.
3) I think you would notice a guy coming in your place with a 20 ft stick or a long ladder.

Anyway- I wanted them to take it down to see how it was stuck (to get at least a clue) before they moved out, but they would not touch it, they were totally creeped out by he whole incident...

I guess there could have been an in-house accomplice, but usually one of them would have fessed up by now.
