if not, proly gonna be meh.
marquette is a great town, and the most "high end" (very relative) compared to the rest of the region.
i'd love to love in marquette i've been trying to get back ever since i left

It's on my Facebook are you a FB friend?
Yeah Bokas feels the same.
OT though it was a good place to grow up as far as being safe and having lots of freedom, but at a certain age kids will either know they want to live up there forever or get out and see more of the world (or at least country).
Lots of snow in the winter and pretty mild summers, high in 80's occasionally. Having the greatest source of fresh water in the world within a few minutes was something I didn't appreciate much then as I do now.
Houghton has a good engineering school (MTU) and in some ways is more affluent than even Marquette as far as being "with the times". There are still stores in each area that get electronics, etc. day one, UPS next day delivery, high speed internet and whatnot.
All in all it has plenty of small town charm without a lot of the rif raff of other more populated areas. People are overall more friendly and laid back than most places, and land/property is usually more affordable unless we're talking about lakeshore. As Bino said, it depends on where you want to be up there. Outdoor fans will have no shortage of things to do, but people who need big malls nearby or nightclubs will feel stranded.
Oh, but there is no shortage of normal bars and good beer to drink. Micro-brewing is big up there.
Wtf are you people talking about?
