Any GLOCK fans out here

I just tried to buy a new glock today, a 40 cal compact. The guy didnt have one and told me good luck finding one. Apparently GLOCK has a huge military order to fill right now so sales to civilians have to wait. I had two different dealers tell me this today. anybody else hear the same thing?

I'm not sure if those dealers you talked to are telling the truth or not but many of them have been known to be full of shit. Dealers have told me that the sig p226 was scarce because of a "huge military order" and I later found this was not true.

There have been instances where dealers will lie in order to mark up the product's price and rip off unsuspecting buyers. Maybe I'm being paranoid but this is what I've been hearing. In your specific case, the person could be telling the truth for all I know.

I had the glock .40 compact as my carry gun for awhile- I didn't like it much. It is not too accurate at least for me. Their triggers are too weird for me. Since they have a built in safety it is not a smooth trigger pull. Get a Sig compact .40- best handgun out there in my opinion. Smart of you to go for the .40 - best wound balistics and best manageable stopping power. Go for either the .40 Sig or .40 H&KUSP40. Glock is overated. I tried my friends .40 Sig and the fucker hit dead on 4 times in a row for me- very accurate and it feels perfect in your hands, the weighting is incredible. Once you try the Sig you will want one, I promise!

I had a Model 23 40.cal for awhile. It shot good and was real light pistol. Easy to disasemble and clean and is reliable.

I just didnt care for the safety setup on it though. Some people like it,but I like having a safety switch by the trigger.

Yeah,I have heard good things about the sigs. If I get another pistol,it will be a sig.

I will just stick with my old Colt M-1911A1 .45 for now. Its heavy as hell, not real accurate, but I like the solid feel of it.

Yeah the glock is bulky too. I had a S&W 4013 .40 compact that I liked allot. I had to sell most of my guns when I moved here to Nazi California. Bastard liberal fucks!

I have a model 20 10mm glock right now. It's a great gun, but is rather large and very powerful. The reason I like the Glock is because of the versatility I use it in. Sand, mud, salt water, etc. I did a weapon recovery on a sig 9mm after being underwater for 1 day, all his weapon would do is fire one round and jam. That will not happen with a glock.

Same with the H&K- Spec Ops use them. I am not crawling around in the mud shooting at people too much much myself so the Sig is fine.:D

I just had to get rid of my beloved model 21 45acp (sigh) It shot very well dead on and reliable, the one thing about the safety I just would not lock & load until it was time to shot. I was in the military and shot about everything and admire a weapon that is that reliable. I'll either get another or the h&k usp 45 acp. Both have 10 rounds and are the best,

Glock makes a good gun. I have a 40 cal witness that shoots great but beleive it or not My favorite carry gun is My 357 mag. Old fashioned I know but it's accurate and still has the best stopping power.

Actually the .40 with the right ammo has just as good or better balistics and stopping power as 357. I still have my rhino(or razor) ammo, you remember when that got banned? It is pretty sick, it has little shotgun pellets embedded in a polymer at the head of the hollowpoint. It creates 6-8 wound cavaties. 99% 1 shot stops. Aside from that you gotta go with Winchester- talons. Any decent hollow-point makes a huge differance, Corbons are one of my fav's.

45 40 357 They are all so close in ability I wouldn't feel naked or out gunned with either. Since I spend a lot of time camping and 4 wheelin. I like the range I can get from the 357. I can put 6 in a paper plate at 100 yards. I don't think I could do that with a 45 or 40.

We have a 9mm model 19.

Very nice gun... for home protection..

Have you checked at a gun show?

Yeah only the bad guys have guns in California. :FRlol:

I love my G19 and G17. Got 5 hi cap mags to complement them. Glock 40 aren't that hard to find. Only thing is that the ammo is expensive to buy and hard as well. Next gun i would like to get is a Sig.

Most military grade .40's are filling big military orders due to a solid recruitment rate.

I own the glock .26, the 9mm sub-compact. Makes for a great concealed carry.

The .40 and .45 (both have the same profile) versions have a little too much recoil. Which is the big gotcha with sub-compact guns, go over the 9mm mark and the recoil (sans compensators) gets heavy, making double tapping inaccurate.

I've got a little bitty baretta 22 that I carry somtimes as a "better than nothin" fit in my pocket guns but I want to get one of the 26's

Be prepared to spend some quality time at the range with it. It's a solid gun, but it's size tends to throw people off.

I rarely drop out of the 9s at the range, but when I first started using the .26 I was dropping well into 6s.

But I got it solved and back in the 9s.

since you mentionned the Berretta 22, two little boys I would consider: HK compact 9 mm and the S&W 3913 9 mm too.

I wouldn't stake my life on 9mm. Weak. Go with .40 at least and an auto. Revolvers are reliable and all but you can always use more rounds. For home protection I have the usual Mossburg 12GA and a couple of cases of SKS's- but they are back in FL- they wont do me much good in Nazi California. I can imagine blasting an intruder with one of my modded SKS- I would go straight to jail for using a "machine gun". Dumb ass gun lobbyists.

Every gun thread turns into this, but thedifference in stopping power between the 9 and the .40 isn't all that huge.

Anectdotal studies show that regardless of caliber gun, the average man will be shot twice before he stops aggressive actions(dies).

but you agree with me a .357 magnum is stronger than a 9 mm :)

if I could afford it, then I would buy the Desert Eagle .44 Magnum. But damn 1500$ for that toy......

I used to own the DEI .50.

But I traded out of it for the lower half of an AR-15 and an industrial lathe.

It's not too bad.
Mine had an accurized barrel with sweet novak sights.

But she had a kick like a drunken mule.
