Any computer gurus?

I know this is the wrong forum for this, but everyone comes here.
The hourglass that shows next to your mouse when your PC is thinking always stays on. I had a power outage this morning
when I was surfing and now the hourglass is on continuously, but blinking about one blink per second. It makes the keys on the keyboard hangup when I'm typing. I removed the hardware and let Windows find it again but that didn't help. What can I do to fix this?

Thanx,
Cujo

Did you try rebooting your system.... shut it down manually.....push the button in on your modem until it shuts off your pc... then hit it again... it will start up and run scan disc..

see if this corrects the problem

It could be that, for some reason, your mouse pointers got messed up..... go to the start menu > settings > control panel > mouse... and then click the pointers tab and see what your cursors are like.... im not sure why your system would be hanging though...
YUM

Thanx for the replies. Apparently when the system was shut down due to power outage and rebooted, it activated the web accelerator. I turned this off (process of elimination) and the hour glass went away. Thanx again.
