Another back problem...

I got over a herniated disc not too long ago. A few weeks ago Imwas doing hack squats and carelessly was pulling downward on the handles as I was coming up and I heard a crack in my upper mid back. I have scene my chiropractor since then and told him. I was preety uch fine till the other day when doing hack squats and calf raises. Now it hurts a lot more all of a sudden after being okay for a few weeks. I'm gonna ask for an X-ray from my chiropractor when I talk to him again later. Anyone ever had anything similar? What was the problem? What was the crack? Miss any time? Herniation?

You may have torn the tendon like ring that holds the catilage together between your vertibrates. A partial tear is a very common cause of herniation. If you only partially tore it, it will heal up and develop scar tissue. If you completely tore it, it may require surgery if you want to continue lifting. If not corrected the cartilage can push out and pinch nerves. I just went through a surgery to correct a tear three months ago. It seems fine now and I'm able to lift again but I'm taking it easy on squats and deads for now.
Hopefully it isn't a tear. If it is, an x-ray will not see it. You'll need an MRI.
