The Media Has Put a Bad Name on Anabolic Steroids The media tells us all the time about how bad anabolic and androgenic steroids are for the human body. The question is, can we really trust what they are telling us? Numerous clinical and scientific studies have been done, and every time the health hazards come back they are very minimal. We need to ask ourselves, why are their so many false beliefs about this performance enhancing drug? Why does the public look down on steroid users? Why do users deserve to go to jail? The media has told us how steroids are not good for the human body. They have fed the public numerous untruths about steroids, and have not shown us actual clinical and scientific research that backs up their statements

Steroids were first introduced to German soldiers in WWII, it kept them healthier and stronger. The world of medicine has taken advantage of the discovery of anabolic steroids. Some types of steroids are known to treat cases of anemia and it also increases red blood cell production. The medical field has found many beneficial uses for steroids. Steroids also have exceptional anti-wasting properties in HIV Positive and AIDS patients. So why does the media put such a bad reputation on steroids if doctors are still prescribing them, and they are benefiting the users? This is a very important question that should be asked.

As in all drugs, steroids do have side effects. Horror stories about eternal side effects and even death are not evident by the true nature of steroids. Professional bodybuilders taking enormous doses of many different drugs in addition to diuretics are the persons that have been hospitalized or have died from steroid related causes. Taking too much of anything is bad for you, look at frequent aspirin users. Of the people that have died in all the wars fought in the twentieth century combined, more people will die this year from the effects of alcohol and tobacco use.

1990’s; U.S. legislators who voted to control s were so ignorant about these drugs that they initially misspelled the legislation to control "antibiotic steroids." AAS have been legislated into a controlled substance equal to heroin, cocaine, and LSD. How can the U.S. Government compare AAS to addictive, harmful drugs? In the early 1990's, the United States Government made alcohol illegal for fourteen years. This did very little to stop the consumption of intoxicating drinks. The Government achieved in equipping organized crime with the multi-billion dollar black-market enterprises of supplying alcohol. Moreover, strong laws on AAS have created an underground industry to satisfy the traffic for AAS

In certain adolescent diseases and some types of anemia, the use of AAS can successfully treat them.
Don’t you think its odd that “andro” is on the market and are legal for everyone to buy, teenagers included. These can be more damaging than high doses of steroids.

It is clear that steroids are the "bastard child" of controlled substances. The majority of the controlled substances are such things as marijuana, cocaine, LSD, and methamphetimines. These are all drugs that play a large role in the way the users think and act. Do steroids affect the way a human being can think and act? No, they do not. Drugs such as marijuana are socially acceptable and are readily available everywhere in the world. It seems as though doing these drugs are the cool things to do, and other people do not put them down. It also seems like the media is somewhat promoting marijuana. Stores that only sell products made out of hemp are very popular. There are shirts and hats with marijuana leaves on them, there are also clothes made out of hemp. What do we think when we see someone with a shirt like this? Not much, you’d probably forget it a few seconds later, take the same situation with someone wearing a shirt with pictures of steroids on it. You’d look at the person like they are some sort of freak and a criminal in society. Why is this? What type of basis do people have for drawing immediate conclusions? When people find out about a person being on steroids, it is automatically wrong and they look at the person in a totally different way. What is the big deal about a person putting a drug in their body to make themselves look better and perform better? We live in a very superficial society, people buy clothes to make them look better, get plastic surgery to change their appearance, how are steroids different? It seems as though people do not even care about others putting drugs into their bodies that will physically and mentally harm them without proper research and/or medically supervised.

I’m not saying that America should outlaw all harmful drugs such as alcohol and tobacco. After all they did try and outlaw Alcohol but it turned out to be a disaster that fed an enormous black market of liquor that directly profited the mafia. Steroids have not been any different. There are over 3 million users in America alone, the numbers have not started to decrease since become scheduled as a Class III drug. Obviously jailing users is not working, decimalization should be the first step that the government should take.

Why is it all-you-can-eat slop houses are on every corner and McClog-Your-Arteries are the cheapest places to eat in America, but quality food is very expensive in comparison? Why is it doctors say exercise more and eat right, but nobody wants to encourage your taking your health seriously? Why do docs come up with arbitrary values on things like serum cholesterol levels then drug companies make drugs to forcefully lower your levels to the "healthy range" even though such drugs are proven to kill a percentage of the patients that use them?

people don’t use this medicine to get high; people don’t use this medicine to escape reality. People do use this medicine to help have a better life! They do this to boost their bodies, to boost their self-esteem and to boost out overall quality of life. Yet every day more and more steroid users are arrested and either jailed or given another form of harsh and underserved punishment. They are engulfed into the same category as people who use heroine, cocaine or even milder narcotics such as marijuana. Could this be because steroid companies and users just haven’t given enough money to state and federal legislatures to have their cause heard. After all, how do they condone the usage and legality of alcohol and cigarettes, but not body-enhancing drugs? Perhaps it because there is not a large enough population of users out there. It is clearly a game of money when it comes to our government and not science.

Steroid use has its risks, but responsible use makes it as safe as anything your doctor wouldn't think twice about prescribing. In contrast, most drugs have questionable, if any, health benefits. Gear use, when used responsibly, confers a great health benefit, this cannot be denied. Ask AIDS patients whose survival depends on steroids; they are not criminals so why should Joe Average be jailed for trying to improve his own body. I guess we can't have that in America. Imagine men and women going around stronger, healthier, eating right, living longer, thinking for themselves....IT WOULD MEAN CHAOS! Millions of VOTING AMERICANS with open eyes and clear minds....NO WE MUST HAVE A NATION OF OBESE ALCOHOLIC MINDLESS SHEEP!

very good arguments...
I will copy and paste to keep this for future reference, if you don't mind...
no worry, I will keep in mind to reference you...:D

karma to you ...

Some great points, but i personnaly prefer that they arent legal. This causes manm of the people that use(not all) to become somewhat educated about it before they use. Also just not anyone is goin to tak them. Imagine if you could walk into a pharmacy and buy 10 cc's of test. Youd have fatasses shooting it thinking it is a miracle drug like the ripped fuel they eat everyday. Also I like being 1 of few more muscle bound ppl in society. If anything penalities should be less harsh or maybe anabolics could be available for anyone but they must go thru a doctor and get a script just to show that they are going to be responsible.
