We have to have one of the worst public education systems going of developed countries that is. Some states have good public schools. Most do not though.

What do your links concerning Denmark have to do with this?
The Swiss pay very little tax, I don't know about tax in Sweden and Norway, but I've visited there and it's quite luxurious

Anyway this is all quite irrelevant due to the size difference, for a fair comparison you'd have to compare these rich European countries with separate states and probably the richest states in the USA are still much richer.
This isn't some kind of silly pissing contest either. But it's just insulting and condescending to just assume like many do that everybody outside of the USA wants to live in the USA. I myself don't feel very tempted.

Bahhh. We pay more for everything. Except in some instances Finland and Japan.
Services and infrastructure are far above the standards in the states, but add in the cost of living and taxes and my end of the month 'cash' surplus is next to nil for what would be a top 5% of my field salary level in the states... ouch!

People who go "unopposed" don't just get to sit another term here, we do not have a dominant 2 party system, there is a gradual spectrum of different sizes of parties.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but the USA hardly ever has a referendum and has a very weak small trade union movement.
Anyway we take it up the ass politically, but not as bad as you IMO.
